This was such a lovely watch! Thank you for the great and thorough exploration of the palette! Very informative xx I think the tin of the palette is adorable and lovely and such a convenient size while still holding many colours 😍 and almost all of the colours are colours I regularly use and enjoy! The only con with the tin is the small mixing space and the only con of the colours is that having yellow raw ochre and raw umber is kind of redundant. Luckily all my paintings are on the smaller side so I can get away with a limited mixing area!😎 I can’t wait for my one to arrive! And I’m very lucky that I was able to find them as it’s sold out almost everywher 💀😊I was a bit late to the party when it comes to realising that this palette existed!😂

I recently picked this little box up myself with the sale that Jackson's had going on... I couldn't wait it out though, and immediately added their Chromium Yellow Hue Deep, Permanent Carmine, Prussian blue, and Sepia Brown to keep with the vintage/retro theme of it. The Chrome Yellow Deep reminds me of Cadmium Yellow Deep, the Carmine resembles Cochineal, and Prussian Blue and Sepia have been around forever... Trust me, it hurt not to add a Phthalo Blue or true Magenta, but I'm going for a certain feel, and the mixing chart looks pretty good. It will be quite useful for en plein air painting I think, especially because my ultra tiny Art Toolkit travel palette is filled with very vibrant colours, this makes a nice contrast. Great video, and it was nice to see these swatched out so well.

I hear Bijou and I think of that white hamster from Hamtaro, it's pretty nice they give you a swatch card so you don't need to waste a sketchbook page

When I first heard the name Bijou I also thought of Hamtaro! Brings back memories and now I want some sunflower seeds.

If it had a cool red and a cool blue instead of the Payne’s grey and the yellow ochre, it would be better for mixing imo. Thanks for showing us this palette 👍🏼

It would be! Its an interesting color selection and Schmincke tends to release palettes with similar colors, so I like that this one is different. However the Raw Umber + Yellow Raw Umber is too much they look the same mixed (see row 667 and 656).

Thank you! I was thinking about adding a cobalt blue, but decided against it because I want to keep this palette the way it is. I might change my mind later on!

@@filsartjourney I had a period where I used cobalt instead of ultramarine. My girlfriend really noticed this unique blue, but as my sketches are mostly given away or shown on instagram, I went back to Ultramarine for its mixing properties, in photos one shows color, not pigments.

Ok this solidified me getting it. The mixing potential is nice and its weird seeing a payne's gray that is actually gray. I think i'm gonna get the smaller set though as it's my first Schminke palette.
