Our seven year old schnauzer, Ema, is tempted to leave the yard to chase rabbits.

Amazingly trained lil girl you have not to leave your yard. Schnauzers usually shut their ears off when their nose takes over and they bolt. We've always had a Mini and and Labrador Rtrv at the same time. Funny how the lil ones boss around the much larger but loving non aggressive Rtrvs. My Mini uses my Rtrvr as his pillow and bed a lot of the time. A match made in heaven.

I don't know that the rabbit is faster. My gf's doxie scot (It might be a Schnoxie) chased a rabbit around the house a couple of months ago, and it was obvious that the dog was not running full speed after the bunny. I definitely do not agree that the bunny is smarter than the dog. But she is super cute.

Them schnauzers will mess with you. . . Play ball for several minutes, then stand over it, pretending they can't see it, when tired. . . Get you drunk and then start speaking with a French accent, even though they're all Germans. . . Pretend like they're sneaking up on a rabbit, but really they don't want to catch it, 'cause they're soft-hearted. . . Schnauzers be terriers and rabbit ain't in their line of work! It's like they be unionized, or somethin' - 'cept they obviously good Libertairians and libertines, like all other good doggies. That ain't that they won't fight non-rat looking things, though! Schnauzers protect children, first and foremost.

I've got a video up on my page of my gf's doxie scot (it's just as likely she's a Schnoxie- given her size 31#s, and muscular build) chasing a rabbit around the house. She wasn't running full speed, making me think she didn't want to catch the rabbit. Whatever she is, she's super smart, super stubborn, and super loveable (even when she's barking at you, like she's wanting to attack you, but her tails ferociously wagging- what she really wants is you to chase her, and wrestle with her like the doggies at the doggy day care do).

Very cute. Love it! Schnauzers are trippy dogs. My family has one. That dog is a teenager and he has caught 2 birds already, destroys everything, then he wants to snuggle and sleep next to you when you lay down.

Mini Schnauzers are ratters... They were breed to chase small game and vermin in Southern Germany (Bavaria)

Shes a good girl. When my standard schanuzer was a pup, she'd dismember rabbits in HER backyard. Now shes no non sense like yours. These dogs are fantastic listeners and learners.

we have a black-haired schnauzer in the family, a bit runty at 13 pounds but she definitely kept the genetics for hunting. 6 years old and she's gotten 7 rabbits now. we are always unhappy about it, but always remember that a schnauzer is a work dog first and a family dog after that. incredible speed.

Emma is beautiful and that's a cute little bunny rabbit. Good work she got rid of it without incident. My Nilly would have ran at that rabbit like a bat out of hell and if she caught it she would have torn it to shreds. She killed three possums and two worthless iguanas.

Mine found a rabbit in a field it had mixi my mini went right upto it am Nd never hurt it she knew it wasn’t well the rabbit being blind didn’t know it was daytime my mini ran her nose Ella over the poor thing I knew I tried to touch it would have blindly ran ❤️🐾🐾

my schnauzer 'hunted down' chicken when it escaped from cage. she turned chicken legs up(alive of course, these dogs are smart), and put paw onto its chest looking at me proud and happy. :D my mum was not though... she would also kill any rats trying to invade her space.

My little schnauzer (Jake berry) once ran down a rabbit on the property knocked it over and then did that Iwanttoplay stance that dogs do then the rabbit bolted off into the trees and jake was sad for the next ten minutes he wanted to buddy

Our min-Schnauzer does not allow anything in our yard. My Shepherd does not care. I sometimes feed the birds with bread. The Shepherd, DeeDee, would be lying around in the yard not paying any attention to the birds. I have to keep the Schnauzer, JazzMan, inside while the birds eat. One evening, JazzMan came into the house with a glowing piece of light on his beard...yeah, he ate a lightning bug.
