Jaden King He is. Been around for a while now. I think 2007 he first showed up as a contestant for Australian idol. Disappeared for a year of so and came out with his own stuff and blew up. This song ended up 2nd it the top 100 the year it came out. He’s been big not only in Australia, but globally. Tours the world etc. Do some digging. You’ll see. At age 16, Matt Corby auditioned for the 5th season of Australian Idol in 2007 where he finished as runner-up! I'm in Texas, USA and I'm probably one of the few Americans that actually got to see Australian Idol, I always downloaded the episodes with Bit-Torrent at the time. I loved the show and I really liked Matt a lot, he was my favorite and what a talent. I'm really glad he's still around and in the business doing what he does best, thanks for posting this video Schell, a very pleasant surprise indeed!

Knowing the MEANING of this song makes it a thousand times more powerful. Be prepared though, it doesn't reflect well on Matt Corby. Matt slept with his close friend's girlfriend. He betrayed his "brother" in the worst way any man could betray a friend. He was so ashamed, he couldn't tell it to his face. He was FUCKED UP by the blame. In fact, I think Matt was so ashamed that he couldn't even write the song from the first-person perspective. He couldn't even say I, and had to say "you" instead... even though the song is about himself. Damn. Heavy and powerful stuff. I'll finish my rant by saying- I can't imagine how anyone could do a cover of this song on a commercial television show like X Factor and do it any kind of justice. It's such a deeply personal and emotional song about a very personal experience. How did they tackle the lyrics "You were FUCKED UP by the blame"?? I don't imagine that would be allowed on a TV show like X Factor. If they changed it to "messed up" or something similar, that would take away all the emotion and meaning.

@stuartcole48453 жыл бұрын
That’s a really cynical way of looking at it and art in general. Significant experiences in life (both positive or negative) are often the catalyst for creativity in true artists. The lyrics, the emotion with which it is performed demonstrate a deep shame and of holding himself to account and everything about it screams that he knows he’s done a terrible thing. Without the emotion you don’t get the authenticity required for great art, whatever the medium. You get the opposite: sterility and mediocrity. Writing songs like this is the way that artists deal with things in their life and hopefully get past them. As for money? Well this guy is one of the least commercialised musicians out there and certainly hasn’t capitalised on his talent to the extent that he could because he would get chewed up by the industry and lose “it”. Want vacant catchy songs with meaningless lyrics by “musicians” that can neither play an instrument, write their own songs or actually sing outside of a studio and all the correction and processing? Well, there’s plenty of that around for you to listen to.
@arloking2 жыл бұрын
It's because he regretted it so much that he could even write the song with such authenticity and rawness and that's the reason why people connected to it. If his mate went from that divorce and went into MMA channeling his anger into his fights and made millions would you react the same shallow way? Tsk
