That little baby earned a treat going down the see through stairs.

That mural was stunning! Some people get all the talent. My mom and many family members are from Illinois. Beautiful state. Although a barge isn't the prettiest of docks, it's nice to have a secure refuge at the end of the day.

I went through Beardstown and Havana a few times in the semi. They looked like an interesting place.

What a cool experience! My husband and I grew up near Beardstown. The time to be in Beardtown is when they do Burgoo. Burgoo is a stew made in giant cauldrons and cooked overnight. It's only a "thing" in parts of a few counties in IL, basically from Beardstown to Jacksonville, mostly in the really small towns. Some towns cook it and sell it. Some have a fall festival with Burgoo being the highlight. Some towns will crown Burgoo Royalty, like Miss Burgoo 2023!

Marybright i am also from Beardstown and grew up there. My name is Christopher Trone. I got my first job working on a riverboat that was passing by Logstons and they took me out in the middle of the night on a little john boat to get on the big boat. I now live in Texas. I just happened onto this channel on youtube and started watching.

Be certain to check your sea-strainer after churning through mud…soft ground.

I can second that. When I had Riverbreeze docked at the Four Seasons Marina in Cincy, it was in an area off the river that was dredged out. It tended to fill back up with silt every few years. I always churned up plenty of muddy water and I'd quickly fill the sea cocks and other parts of the cooling systems for both mains and the genset. It was a constant battle to keep them clean. It also ate up the water pump impellers on a regular basis. It was still hell on water punps too, even with constantly cleaning out the systems.

On the rivers, it's a towboat, not a tug. The assembly of towboat and barges is called a tow.
