Decided to try a S&W Schofield holster. It's not a mexican loop style, more like the earlier slim-jim holster models. The tooling is not consistent with late 1800 period styles, more of a contemporary floral twist.
The Smith & Wesson Model 3 is a single-action, cartridge-firing, top-break revolver produced by Smith and Wesson (S&W) from around 1870 to 1915. It was produced in several variations and subvariations, including both the "Russian" model, so named because it was supplied to the military of the Russian Empire and the "Schofield" model, named after Major George W. Schofield. The S&W Model 3 was originally chambered for the .44 S&W American and .44 Russian cartridges.

dealing with the same issues... sort of. When I upload it takes two days and slows down all internet functions. glad to see you're back. You inspired me to rebuild a 100 year old saddle (though, with 10,000 other projects going it's slow and unsteady). A holster was the first leatherwork I ever made back in 1962. Thanks for the vids.

I just found this channel and subscribed immediately. I’m new to leather crafting, starting about a year and a half ago (mostly holsters and rifle slings), and I’m trying to watch and learn from as many people as I can. As a result I’ve watched 100’s of videos and love seeing true craftsman and artists. There are only a few I’d put in that category and you sir are definitely on that list. Thank you for sharing your gift and knowledge.

I like the simplicity of this pattern. It lends to using the holster in the classic quick draw style. Great content. Glad you choose to share!

Great video. Please answer a question for me. I have a holster for a cap lock remover that is very tight. It’s fairly thin leather in a black finish. Slim Jim style. How can I give the revolver a looser fit. Thanks for any advice.
@agarfrance9272
@agarfrance9272 3 жыл бұрын
You could try soaking the holster with some water, then putting the gun in a plastic bag and jamming it into the holster, wiggling it as you go. When its jammed all the way in, just leave it overnight and take the gun out of the bag and try it re-holstering it. It all depends on wether bthe finish on the holster is too waterproof.

@agarfrance9272
@agarfrance9272 3 жыл бұрын
It's pretty heavy, skirting leather 13 to 15 oz and cut from the butt so it's extremely stiff and has almost no stretch. I use it because it's what I buy for saddles and it never hurts to have a stout holster. A single action pistol is a heavy piece of hardware.
