I came here to US in 2008 for undergraduate and my parents trusted me and showed the money etc. yes they have to show the deed etc too. I completed my undergraduate and then completed my Masters and that helped me to find a job to sponsor my H1 visa process. I am humbly proud about the whole adventure and it’s not easy at all!! But anyone can do it! Just don’t give up. Yes our experience was so different than a scholarship holder.

It will be too costly to come to public college unless you already have some relative here. Highly recommend you to complete your first degree from government university in Sri Lanka & come here for higher studies. Then you can get scholarship which is cost effective.

Yes. If you have better GPA (>3) & better IELTS/TOEFL score & good GRE score you can definitely come for Mac or PhD with your BSc general degree

මම නම් O/L වත් නැහැ tourist visa එකෙන් USA ආව. ඊට පස්සේ ලංකාවට යන්න බැහැ මරන්න බලාගෙන ඉන්නවා කියල asylum apply කළා. ඒ එකක්ම මෙහෙ ඉන්න US citizen කෙනෙක් එක්ක relationship එකක් හදා ගත්ත. Asylum case එක reject වුනා නමුත් එතකොට මම US citizen marry කරලා ( සම ලිංගික විවාහයක් ) දැන් මට PR එක තියෙනවා. තව වසර 3කින් citizen apply කරන්න පුළුවන්.

Course fees here don't change that much. In 2023 even you can find MBAs which cost around $1400 per month. You can convert that to Rs. based on the current exchange rate & multiply that by 12 to get the min course fee that you need to show for Visa. Generally higher studies කරන්න හිතාගෙන ඉන්නවා නම් TOEFL / IELTS ලංකාවේ දී කරන එක තමා හොදම දේ. හැබැයි සමහර uni TOEFL / IELTS waive off කරන්න පුළුවන්. නැත්නම් මෙහේ ඇවිත් English test එකක් කරන්න කියන්න පුළුවන්. එහෙම ආපු අපි දන්නා තව student ලා ඉන්නවා. හොදම දේ ලංකාවේ දී TOEFL / IELTS කරන එක. Thanks for the comment. If your whole intention is to get work visa, then we recommend Canada over USA since getting work authorization in USA is harder than Canada. However for engineering you have better opportunities compared to other fields. In USA once you complete the masters, you can work from your OPT & then you need to find an employer who is willing to file for your H1-B visa or Green card. Keep trying. It's possible as long as you try❤️. We have done all these between 2016 to 2023 so anyone else can do the same too. It may be harder now with current situation in Sri Lanka but it's not impossible.
