And the worst part is, Kotonoha actually began to gain confidence necessary to become girlfriend Makoto desired when Sekai was stealing him (just look how she acted in the pool episode). If not for the fact that Makoto's father's lustful genes were awaken by Sekai earlier with that kiss at the end of episode 1, probably everything would turn out alright - Makoto was frustated, because he couldn't get things he wanted from his girlfriend, while other girl (Sekai) just gave him everything, mostly without him even asking for it.

it isn't just about a abortion per say. They first want to see if she truly is pregnant. In the novel there are some routes to which she is pregnant but she shows signs of it. In the anime she just says she is without ever showing proof. Thus in the anime they first want her to get test to see if she is, and if so then from what is given a abortion is taken into consideration for makoto can't support the child.

This is my opinion. Yes, Makoto is an asshole but it looked like he regretted his choices. He is the reason why Kotonoha is in her broken state but he was partially manipulated by Sekai. it is makoto's fault at the most. 90% and sekai at 10%. sekai did make makoto a perverting asshole sekai did set him and katsura up and sekai kissed makoto after he and katsura were in a relationship. however she did say to all her friends"me and makoto are just friends. No more, no less." But makoto was the one who used poor sekai as a toy. He only wanted her body. When she did mention "call katsura. It us a great way to end the day." Yes sekai did make makoto practise on her but she never forced him to be her boyfriend. But he chose to cheat on poor Katsura. If Sekai did not meddle this whole shit would have never happened in the first place. If Sekai wanted Makoto she should not have involved Katsura. The whole issue was created by Sekai but most of it was Makoto's fault. He just got attracted to katsura. Not love. Poor katsura did get affected cuz Makoto was her first true love.

what would have been interesting here is if she stabbed him and quite poetic after he says he is sorry. and said "That is all i wanted...goodbye" f'ed up but she had more cause to kill him than sekai if we are to be honest. Honestly though this saves Makoto from being the "worst" person ever since he had a small little shred of humanity in him to see what he has done to her and really mean what he said to her.

Don’t let the anime fool you, Kotonoha isn’t such an angel in the visual novel or the manga. This was my favorite scene in the anime just holy crap the feels.
