Even though Sekai was the catalyst to the characters spiraling out of control, you just can't help but feel sorry for her immature actions as an innocent and inexperienced teenager who just wanted to be happy even though she knew it was wrong. Even as you go through the show, no matter how much Sekai wanted Makoto and was trying to drag Kotonoha away from him, her regret and her knowledge that what she was doing was wrong was always clear and that's something we should give her more credit for. The smallest difference between a good person and a bad person is that the good person at least knows that what they're doing is wrong. Her inexperience and plausible selfishness as a teenager looking for love got the best of her and resulted in this whole bloody mess between the cast at the end of the show. Beautiful Anime.

She was a victim of her own immaturity and selfishness but it doesn't changes that it was her own fault for getting involved with someone who was uncertain about everything related to his feelings, she saw that and took advantage of it. Just ended watching this anime last month. It's a masterpiece. They acted wrong but for me the problem is the main protagonist that can't even say a simple "No" when someone asks him to do something wrong. Poor Sekai for attaching to false feelings and even more sad for Kotonoha for pledging her life for a false person. She was a true love indeed, even after her personality collapsed she wasn't mean after all.

For context on why I am saying everyone turned out to be a dipshit is because the short friend slept with the MC even after being in false assumption that Sekai (her best friend) was in a relationship with him, then the girl who liked some other guy also slept with him knowing he was in a relationship, the MC's male friend forced himself on Kotonoha after being manipulated by Sekai, everyone without asking Kotonoha what happened turned against her because Sekai let them believe Kotonoha was trying to get between the MC and her. She was isolated, bullied, r@ped, cheated on and abandoned but she never let those things drive her into doing any sort of harm on anyone. I get it that people sympathize with Sekai but she knowingly did this to herself and involved someone completely innocent (Kotonoha) in her mind games

Man I watched this anime when I was just 12, I'm 25 now, just rewatched it and came to the realization I got so many things wrong at the time and some I didn’t even notice about the story. Sekai really did want to help Makoto at first because she liked him. She didn’t really think about having a chance with him until Makoto started to notice how hard it was being with Kotonoha and preferred Sekai instead. That’s when Sekai was drowned by her feelings despite feeling bad for Kotonoha. Amazing teenagers story; and it was released on 2007!

@吸血鬼ambre Yes, she is. But in almost all the routes she isn't as bad as in the anime series, and in School Days all the characters do bad things: Sekai, Makoto, Setsuna, Taisuke and even Kotonoha. With that in mind I think that we would have to categorize according to intentions and scenarios. I had passed all the routes of School Days HQ and I do not hate Sekai, she acts badly, and being part of an infidelity is obviously wrong, but considering what has been said that in School Days nobody acts really good, I think that she isn't a bad person knowing everything about her. Makoto is insecure, Sekai cowardly and Kotonoha is wrong of the head from the beginning, and she could be a horrible person, just like Makoto and Sekai in the series, and she has no justification in some of the routes: once she kills Sekai just because Makoto leaved her. And in this same route Makoto didn't play with her, nor is she raped, nor does bullying reach what happens in the series. I suppose that depending on the first impression of each one with this saga it will justify more to one character than to another.

Sekai was far from innocent, and the killing/lying about pregnancy drove her way past Makoto in terms of lack of morality. But with the seducing thing, Makoto had much more responsibility because he was the one in a relationship. I never understand why people always blame the other person that seduced their partner rather than their partner for falling for it.

gohan8419 School Days HQ is the remastered of the first School Days visual novel. With improved graphics, uncensored h-scenes and with added new good and bad endings. It's basically the same as in the anime however, there are parts where you can choose to change how the story goes (Warning: Spoilers) In the anime, Makoto brought Otome in the rest area (aka: The Lounge) where there's an event scene. In School Days HQ, you will have Makoto have a choice to reject her, go to Kotonoha, meet with Sekai. If you choose go to Kotonoha, she will extend her hand towards Makoto like how Otome did and they will go to the Lounge for an event scene, after that they will proceed to the Bonfire dance, in the anime version, Makoto is dancing with Sekai but in the VN you get to dance with Kotonoha depends on your choices.

Por si aún te lo preguntas, no te preocupes, yo tmb soy team Sekai. Más que nada porque el anime ha representado bien mal la personalidad de Sekai, de hecho de todas, pero entiendo que fue por llamar la atención xd. Yo he jugado el juego, y eso fue antes que el manga y el anime, y puedo dar fe de que la Sekai canonica es un amor :'v, por los principios del juego (en la etapa antes de que te digan la ruta que tomaste) se demuestra que existe muchisíma química entre Sekai y Makoto, porque se nos muestra y explica como ambos se volvieron mejores amigos, como tienen cosas en común y cómo su amor puede tener justificación. Incluso Sekai, ya sea en su ruta o la de Kotonoha, es bastante insegura, y se siente culpable por haber juntado tanto a Makoto como a Kotonoha. Setsuna por su parte (a ella sí no la defiendo tanto) busca proteger a Sekai porque nos explica que ella es muy cobarde y que antepone los sentimientos de los demás antes que los suyos. No sé, me hubiera gustado que en el anime plasmaran mejor los sentimientos y personalidad de Sekai, para verla como una rival, no como una villana a quién gran parte del mundo odie. Para que así el decaimiento psicológico de ambas protagonistas se vea mucho más impactante y duela más a la hora de la verdad :'v.

Despite how crap the anime turned out to be provided the horrible ending they chose. The overall outcome of the game of when he realizes he f'ed up, and how he wants to start over again, and understands how she actually feels/how she was treated showed him "grow up" Better redeeming himself somewhat.
