the evacuation button isn't the best way to do an evacuation test but i guess it works, should've activated an MCP to simulate a fire event

This is so cool do you just have to set fire alarms off or set fire drills at schools I always wondered who set them off at my school. Is it fire safety people who set them off? That’s school looks massive I wouldn’t want to find my way out of there in a fire 😂

What took the alarm so long to activate?
@stanlee_x3294 жыл бұрын
It has a delay.
@dale42314 жыл бұрын
What for? Here in the US there is a 30 second max delay that’s tolerated. The person activating the alarm might not realize that it had a delay and keep going to other call points. Also if there is a real fire that’s not good because you only have about two minutes to escape.
@stanlee_x3294 жыл бұрын
@@dale4231 During that time, certain people go look round the activated Fire alarm's area. If they get another alarm in it will start the notification devices. If they find fire, heat or smoke they will then trigger another call point or run to a panel and press Evac. Either way the reason they have a timer on the sounders is to allow an investigation which would save a full evacuation.
@SouthLightFX3 жыл бұрын
I agree with you there Stables_X... Upon activation of a second device; the delay is immediately by-pass and the alarms sound. This delay (also known as pre-alarm) stage is used to allow time to investigate the nature of an alarm, without causing a needless evacuation in the event of a false alarm. In some places; this pre-alarm stage might be accompanied by an intermittent tone/alarm and/or fire alert message (if using voice evac)... a noticeable example of this is the fire alarm within Sainsburys (One of many UK supermarkets).
