School of Dragons is Closing Down...

It's official folks! As of the 30th June 2023, School of Dragons servers will close for the last time at 11:59pm; time is up. We had a good run; a good run indeed.

All the time that so many people have spent on this game, all gone! I understand that the developers don’t have any more updates to make since the franchise itself is over, and that’s completely ok, but why delete all our data? Why can’t they’re existing, loyal fans and players keep all their hard earned things.. especially for those who’ve spent money on this game. Personally I still have 7months of my membership left before renewal. I think it’s unfair that I’d pay for the year and only get a few months out of it. The fact that this shut down came so suddenly and no one was expecting it, no one was prepared. Their players deserve to keep their data, even if it means that there will be no new quests or events, it doesn’t matter. I’ve myself completed this game 4 times now with new characters, and I still enjoy it. I love to just fly around, shoot random things, tend to my farm, explore whatever new little areas I can find, send dragons on quests and await their return, and just talk to people in general. I find that there is no need to delete everything. People still play this game and they will continue even if there are no updates.. along with the fact that there are still new players joining everyday who would love to see all the adventures available for them, and progress in the game.

Dig out your receipt and contact customer service. I doubt they'll keep it running for just you, but there's no reason you should pay for a service you won't get, and they owe you a refund.

@@lunathelightfury2795 I don't know about your jurisdiction, but in mine that would be 100% illegal. You can't take a years subscription, shut down after 5 months and keep the money. I don't know how you paid, but if it was CC, can you get it reversed? Complain to your bank about a fraudulent sale and try that way? Better Business Bureau or the local equivalent? Or, tag the company's PR Twitter asking why they charged you for 12months and you only got 5.

@DN gaming I don't like nine realms at all. Seeing two of the dragons in sod was so weird and out of place. I emailed them and they said that it has been very challenging to continue to support and update the game given that fast changing and competitive mobile game market

I get that you‘re sad about it, but they were probably forced to shut it down. Their revenue dropped, so they won‘t be able to afford a license anymore. A license is needed to keep the game running, due to them using characters and content from another company (in that case Dreamworks and Universal). Licenses cost money and they are NOT cheap. So the devs didn’t do it out of fun, there was a reason behind it and we have to accept it. I‘m sad about it too, especially because I spent money on it, but well it happens.

It's so sad. I have been playing this game since its release and share so many great memories with it. This just breaks my heart that all the money and time i invested is gonna be gone forever. I am gonna spend the rest of the time this game has left on my dragons, it always cheered me up even after a hard day of work, and i'll probably never forget about the amazing people i met and the memories we shared together.

Why can't we just- keep the game and- maybe update with the "niente realms" thing or- the episodes series- i mean it's a really good game- why delete it? Also i guess that all the players have a kind of bond with their dragons- and knowing that they're all going to- (i'm sorry to say this for vituals dragons) "die"- kinda hurts... For me- I hatched my red wispering death named Wiskers in... 2019 and- I still love him and go around with him so much- why can't we just keep the game opened or- transfer the datas of our dragons to another game from the same developers? Also this is the only "kinda openworld" game of HTTYD- at least give it a chance and let it online-

I honestly don't understand, I mean, the fact that the game has to shut down.. Why tho? I understand that they can't update the game, but there's no reason to shut it down.. I started this game in 2014, and I'm an OG player. I spent more than 50 dollars on this game, and seeing my process disappear is horrible.. Even if the game returns somehow, the data won't be saved, and that's the worst part.. And to the people, like me, who spent more than 1000 hours playing this game, I can understand how you feel. Just.. I feel like losing a little part of me

Bascially, Jumpstart Games could no longer afford to pay Dreamworks for a lisence to run a 'how to train your dragon' game; hence the game is shutting down.

Yeah, thank you so much! People would watch individual 3D turns of each dragon. Especially when we no longer have the game. I just don’t think I have the resources to make it happen. (My technology sucks so bad)
