To be honest, I like this spot on version better than any of those "I do it my way" kind of covers. Sounds just like TOOL, which is a great and difficult thing. The only thing that doesn't sound the same are their voices for obvious reasons, but still managed to find a way for it to sound wonderful.

It's not spot on. Listen to "a tendency to" (4:49 ish) again and you'll notice the "to" is a fifth or octave lower than what it should be. The melody is changed and it almost ruins the original composition. Feel free to feel good about the likes you got, but there are thousands of Tool fans who would agree with me. It's not a bad cover, but it isn't "spot on" where it arguably matters the most.

I’ve been listening to Tool - Lateralus for about 17 years now and it is still my favourite album. "ok, here are 4 rifts on the guitar, 6 baselines, and drummer just go ape shit.... ok break" there is a reason their albums take so long to produce. So much talent in that room. I'm sixteen and play guitar, bass and do vocals. That bassist has great finger strength (despite using a pick) the drummer keeps amazing time and does those difficult time changes great, the guitarists also follow the rest of the band impeccably, and not to mention the vocals. Great harmony. Lacking in energy, but i believe that comes with time. The bassist also got the octave swell perfectly on the interlude. Practically exactly like the song!!!
