Schott Light & Imaging Indoor Graffiti Artwork Mural 2023

Das Kunst und Wissenschaft sich nicht ausschließen, sondern sich ergänzen, zeigt dieser Job: Ein sehr ungewöhnlicher Mural-Auftrag mit einem noch ungewöhnlicheren Motiv war Schott Light & Imaging in Mainz. Für die Glasfaserabteilung des weltbekannten Industrie-Glasherstellers durfte ich Ende 2023 ein indoor Mural-Artwork der Größe 17 x 9 m erstellen, daß, wie immer freihand von mir gesprüht wurde. Die vielleicht eher banal wirkende Ästhetik des Regenbogens hat Gründe und hat nichts mit dem LGTBQ-Hype zu tun. Schließlich besteht (weißes bzw. sichtbares) Licht aus diesen dargestellten Farben. Für mich war es wirklich schwer eine Konzeption zu finden, die der Dualität Welle/Teilchen gerecht wird. Schließlich fand ich noch ein sehr schönes Zitat des Multitalents Goethe: »Das Auge hat sein Dasein dem Licht zu verdanken …« Licht als Informationsübertrager und als Phänomen wird uns in Zukunft sicher noch viel mehr Überraschungen bescheren, als wir vielleicht ahnen.
This job shows that art and science are not mutually exclusive, but complement each other: A very unusual mural commission with an even more unusual motif was from Schott Light & Imaging in Mainz. At the end of 2023, I was able to create an indoor mural artwork measuring 17 x 9 m for the fiberglass department of the world-famous industrial glass manufacturer, which, as always, was sprayed freehand by me. There are reasons for the perhaps rather banal aesthetic of the rainbow and it has nothing to do with the LGTBQ hype. After all, (white or visible) light consists of these represented colors. For me it was really difficult to find a concept that was fine to the wave/particle duality. Finally, I found a very nice quote from the multi-talented Goethe:
"The eye owes its existence to light..."
Light as a transmitter of information and as a phenomenon will certainly give us many more surprises in the future than we might imagine.
