I hunted with that same model. One day walking up a dirt road, i bent down under a limb and there in the road was another, in excellent condition

I have one, with the sheathe, I have had it for awhile, I wouldn’t let it go for cheap, it’s dangerous, razor sharp.

I have a pre 73 one marked Alaskan Hunter. I've had it since 78 when I was a kid. I pocket carry it, it's my favorite knife pattern. I think this is the knife that got me interested in traditional slip joint knife collecting. This one stays in my family, hopefully one day one of my great great grandkids will be carrying it.

I truly enjoy stories like this, it's one of things I like most about my KZbin channel. And I have no doubt that these knives will be around long after we are. Thanks for the comment!

Would live to have one, Case's version has hollow grinds instead of the flat gring like the Old Timers which I like more.

Nice. Just bought one of these today, a pre-73 like the one here, for 20.00. Not as clean as the one in the video, but has the case too. Thanks for the info.

I miss those vintage Schrade folders. I have an old stockman and it's a very well made knife.

A friend gave me one of these many years ago. It wasn't in the best condition at the time--still isn't. Maybe i'll clean it up with a little Naval Jelly. Didn't know these were so interesting. Thanks for the video

I have a very old one by Schrade when it was called the mustang. Nice knives, 4in. blade, slim and light compared to my old timer and uncle henry lock backs. All were out standing knives and I still have them after 45 yr. as well as Buck 110s. I still have and carry them as well as my Buck 110s. A life time of memories and still kicking.

Yes . You're lucky to have that thing . I just looked at the amount these things are selling for . I've seen a big jump in prices for USA made Schrade stuff in the last year , but this model is way up there .

This Old timer 25OT and the Uncle Henry 227UH seem to have gone up in price far more than any of the other models of those two lines . We're talking 200 to 300 dollars for nice specimens in today's market . Certainly makes me wish I'd latched on to them both awhile back . When Scrade first closed , they wernt selling for anymore and sometimes less than the MSRP of the final production . Looks like I might have to settle for the new Asian produced models if I want to ad them to my collection . I just can't fathom spending over 100 bucks for a pocket knife . GEC's won't be getting added to my collection either for this very reason .

Great Review. What would be a good knife in a "tradional" form to get, that's not too expensive just to see if I like this kind of kife in general. The closest I ever came are my Victorinox Knives.

Thank you. It's hard for me to recommend what one that you may like because everyone's tastes are different, and there are so many different patterns and colors to choose from. I can tell you some brands to check out that are made in China and are inexpensive. Some may even have real bone handles too. Ganzo G725M is one to look at and see if you like, should be under $10 US. And some companies to look at are Rough Rider, Frost Cutlery, and any of the new Schrade Knives. And some of the popular patterns are medium stockman, trapper, peanut, toothpick, just to name a few. I'm sure if you browse some of these patterns from some of these companies you will find one you like for well under $20 bucks. And half the fun is finding one you like. Wish I was more help.

My 225OT has no lanyard hole. Would that date it as 89-93?

It's possible, but it could also be from 74 or 75 as there was no lanyard hole those years either.
