Directions:
The starting point of the tour is the "Auf der Höh" car park south of Hinterstein.
From here you orientate yourself towards Hinterbachhof. To do this, follow the hiking trail in a south-easterly direction across a meadow and soon cross the Willersbach. At the Hinterbachhof you meet the road to the gabled house. There is also a regular private bus service here. (If you want to shorten the tour, you can take the private bus line from Hinterstein to the Auele stop between Konstanzer Jägerhaus and E-Werk and start the tour there).
Walk down the street Tal, past the Konstanzer Jägerhaus to the power station. Here you turn left towards Schrecksee. The way is clearly signposted. The narrow and steeper path leads to alpine terrain very quickly. The well-known and popular Jubiläumsweg, which connects the Willersalpe and the Prinz-Luitpold-Haus, runs over the summit chain in an easterly direction.
After the dilapidated Taufersalpe, a last, almost 300-meter-high step requires some strength. But all the effort was worth it and the view over the picturesque Schrecksee quickly compensates for the exertion. The unique mountain lake lies at 1,813 m in a cauldron-like high valley.
The path goes clockwise around the lake. Again and again, wonderful views invite you to take a short break. In the north of the lake you can return to the familiar main path via a narrow path. The same way it goes back to the valley.

The Schrecksee is located in the Allgäu High Alps nature reserve. Therefore, partying, camping and making noise are strictly forbidden. This is sometimes even checked by the alpine police.
The high valley of the lake is bordered by Knappenkopf (2071 m), Kirchendach (2,013 m) and Kälbelespitze (2,135 m) in the east, Kastenkopf (2,129 m) and Lahnerkopf (2,122 m) in the south and Älpelekopf (2,024 m) in the west.

@@nilskrauss auf jeden Fall.. wie lange dauert so ne Wanderung bei den Wetter da hoch?

@@oodoo_wrld kommt sehr darauf an wie Eisig es ist und wie man selber mit Schnee und Eis beim Wandern klar kommt. Aber an sich nicht viel länger als im Sommer. Wobei der Osthang durch die kalten Nächte und wärmeren Tage bei uns sehr Eisig war, dem entsprechenden hatte jemand von uns doch ab und an Probleme bei dem Auf- und Abstieg... Das war bisher mein einziges Mal, dass ich an dem Schrecksee war. Also habe ich noch keinen direkten Vergleich.
