Scott, thank you for sharing this video. I'm going on a harvest crew for the first time in about a month. Seeing videos like this makes me excited. Thank you again

Scott Schroeder me too any advice for a young guy who has only worked on a small family farm in southwest ia?

Just be open to new ways of doing things that your boss will have. Be safe and alert because the equipment is big. Pay attention to your surroundings because depending on the crew size there will be things going on at multiple times. Where is the company from that you are going to work for if I may ask?

Mike Strunk harvesting out of Kansas. Seemed to be the best fit for me. And he seems like a good guy over the phone. And reviews say he is great to work for. I have hundreds of questions about the whole deal but I've refrained from asking because I want to keep an open mind and be surprised when I get there.

what was the moisture on that corn at 8:15 ??
@schroedermanager8 жыл бұрын
Probably about 30%. Maybe just a little bit more. Don't quite remember.

I saw you had a drago corn head on one of your combines. Any reason you don't run all drago? We just bought a s680 with a 16 row drago head and it's an amazing setup. 5 mph in every field we cut (even irrigated).

What series is the header that you are running? How good is your irrigated?
@ViciouslyFish8 жыл бұрын
Scott Schroeder Drago series 2. Yield was around 200 bushel. The drago does a WAY better job of keeping trash out of the combine. The only thing coming out of the back of the combine was cobs and a couple husks. We also had a irrigated field that had disease so the plant was dead and the trash came in thicker and we could only go about 4.2 mph. Massive difference a little more plant material can make!

The yield that we have where we harvest is a little better than 200. There are times that the deere does a better job with ground loss than the drago. We find that it wants to spit it out the front because that trough is not deep enough. Now if there are weeds that Drago will do better with that.

Scott Schroeder yeah we don't have the water here in southwest Kansas. Plus we farm for efficiency not yield. But we really love the drago. It does spit some corn but nothing that would cause any worry. The s680 was a massive upgrade from a 9760 and 16 rows was nice to match our planter. We never had a break down on the drago while we usually have 2 or 3 a season on the Deere head.

Why don't you keep the bin extensions on for wheat?
@schroedermanager7 жыл бұрын
Because of how they fold down to haul them. It would be a pain plus we can keep up with one cart and don't need that extra storage during the summer.
@ViciouslyFish7 жыл бұрын
Scott Schroeder I see. Always see custom cutters without extensions in wheat but have them in corn and always wondered why.
