Mesmerising. Brilliant interplay between flute and piano to construct the bittersweet narrative. One clearly discerns the plaintive cry of the wanderer and the consoling playfulness of the babbling brook, giving him hope. The best exposition of the piece through the medium of the Emajor and Eminor tonal centres, with the chromaticism mimicking the gentle waves and the tiny trouts at play. Well wicked. Thank you both.

5:16 It's so funny that the flute part here could be played by a 3rd grader and then the pianist is dying with all the octaves in the left hand

I came to this video for a big reason. on my music score I am missing a measure, and on this score it is missing too on the key change in minute 6:00. check it out. 2 measures before the repeat line. On this recording they don't play the repetition so we have to jump right to the 2nd ending of that variation. but there is a measure missing before then. right on 6:16 is the measure that is not writen.

Hi there. There is indeed a missing bar; we actually added in the missing bar, by playing bar 21 (of that variation) twice. However. it is absent on the score. We didn't play any repeats as the piece would have been too long for this recital.

Pavle Cajic do you guys know where I can get the complete score?

I do not know of a version without the missing bar, I assume there was a mistake in the original edition, perhaps... although it might exist. I just do not know about it personally! They did make an editorial note about it in our edition.

A note in the Henle edition says that, according to the manuscript of the piece, "Schubert himself first planned a literal repetition of the preceding bar... only to delete it and replace it with the present (7-bar) variant. This mitigates against changing the text so as to balance the periodic structure."
