I like some of Liszt's textural rewrites. It's efficient and it doesn't sound too much different from the original yet once one plays it, it is far more romantic in it's pianism

Thank you! I recently acquired the sheet music so I had to hear a performance of it!

some of liszt's changes are improvements like 9:41 and 14:44 but i cannot agree with the change to the left hand in 16:52

I agree, 16:52 does sound a bit off or at least unnecessary, but were Liszt's pedal markings adhered to by (the fantastic) Oravecz I think we might have perceived that change differently. Without pedal Schubert's wonderful harmonies are somewhat obscured by the choppy bass - which might even enhance the power of that brilliant chord progression if played with pedal. But I am not sure, would need to hear it.

Well the last movement is basically Liszt's arrangement of it. It does stray further from the classical integrity of Schubert but I think it is interesting to say in its own right. It sounds very cool

18:27 in the right hand here, are these supposed to be triplets with a rest at the first beat of each triplet?

they are

Way easier than the original one 😂. Liszt was clever.
