Loved working on the Shultz and Larsen rifles made for Weatherby. They were extremely smooth to operate and always accurate. I worked for the Weatherby shop in South Gate and later Atascadero CA. Also partial to this rifle because my family is from Denmark. 🇩🇰

Just noticed your Cartidges of the World book behind you. If that one has the section article on the 257 Weatherby Magnum, my name is mentioned in that article, as I put together and test targeted the rifle sent to the author. Fun stuff!

The 56A was also made in .416 Rigby afterwards by SL, they cost about 6000 US now in value . What goes on is system rifles, and cheaper plastic sadly for many. M97 have up to .458 in barrels also, and a Tactical version.

I am the proud owner of a Shultz and Larsen M60 in 7x61 Sharp & Hart. It is one of the finest, most beautifully made guns I own. When I do my part, it is a sub moa rifle. I believe its accuracy is in part because the recoil lugs are in the back of the bolt unlike the one in this video. I understand many benchrest shooters are using this type of bolt.

Here in Europe, and certainly in Belgium, you are required to drive halfway across the country at least 12 times a year for mandatory shooting sessions. If you do not meet the requirements, you are no longer allowed to own weapons. Then there are three possibilities: -Have your weapons permanently disabled by the test bench. -Handing in your weapons to the police for destruction. Officers will write themselves a model4 for the nice ones, and thus become the owner of your weapon. -Leaving your weapons in the custody of a recognized person, actually a gun shop, until you meet the law again to be allowed to shoot. This costs an annual fee per weapon. After a few years these people give up, they try to sell their gun to the store, the store only takes the guns for free, because they say they have more guns than they can sell or store. These weapons end up on pallets headed for the USA. So these weapons are not actually given up voluntarily, there is always the threat of gun laws, with fines and prison sentences. During two world wars my ancestors were forced to carry a weapon to fight at the front and in the resistance, which they had to hand over immediately after the war, in the case of WWII even before the last Germans had left Belgium.

🙌 Thank you Mike for another great video👏 I have been collecting rifles 60+ years and love anything bolt action! Schultz & Larsen is one of the few brand rifles I have not gotten, as you said they just aren’t that many around for sale. I can tell they are excellent made and very accurate. Over the hundreds and hundreds of rifle I have gotten over the years the Sako’s and Browning Safari’s and the Weatherbys are my favorite along with the husqvarna rifles but I guess I am going to have to find one of those to add to my collection, and thanks again for putting them on my radar because as I am retired and older we forget about all these great rifles from these other country’s.

It’s a fabulously built and very accurate rifle with cut rifling and every barrel is tin lapped for accuracy and delivers it. Only yesterday I installed and zeroed a Vortex PST 5251 scope on a 6.5 x 47 Lapua which I sold to a much younger friend a few years back. Satisfied with my work, I couldn’t resist shooting a few more for group with hand loads, 130 Game Changer, 42grains RS60 and they just piled one on top of another. Beautiful walnut stock etc, I was reluctant to return it.

In 1988, I harvested a deer using the 220 grain Corelokt from my Model 70. I was in the gunshop and an older gentleman told me to buy them because they flatten out like a Half Dollar. The biggest exit hole I’ve ever seen was that year. My cousin harvested his first Buck using his Winchester XTR Model 70. The Silvertip expanded making a huge raged exit hole.

Victory The best of 150 years of Schultz & Larsen combined in one rifle With the Victory rifle everything steps up a gear. An extremely precise and stable rifle but also a classic that has proven it’s worth over a number of years. The model has been subject to many years of continuous refinement to design detail. For many, it is an absolute first choice for hunting or on the shooting range. The Victory is for those who want a rifle that has been pampered in all machining processes. It is a companion for life, with plenty of warmth and soul. The Victory is the top-selling rifle from Schultz & Larsen and the best, due to accuracy, machining and fine details. Details All parts are made from solid steel bar and are completed with more detail to design and shape, than our other rifles. Therefore, our Victory rifle has the most work hours added into the product. Like the Classic DL it comes with a high accuracy top of the line, cut rifled barrel. Schultz & Larsen only use first quality barrels and actually, the barrels are the world famous ones, established through more than 150 years. The Victory Rifle has an interchangeable barrel, and a huge selection of calibres and barrel profiles. The new Victory action is not just dropped out of a machine and every single action is checked for perfect alignment to the barrel and the integrated Slide & Lock mount system. The Victory is a rifle of higher value than the price indicates and it is hard to find better anywhere - some might say impossible. It guarantees excellent performance for unforgettable hunting moments. System The options of a crisp ‘glass-like’ direct trigger or 2-stage ‘Match’ trigger are available at no additional cost. The first portion of travel in the 2-stage trigger takes up 60% of the total pull weight leaving a light final stage with no compromise to the sear engagement or safety of the rifle. The Victory rifle is prepared for slide & lock assembly systems (such as 1 “, 30 mm, 34 mm, 36 mm and the Zeiss rail system) but is also pre-drilled to accept traditional bases or a Picatinny rail. Schultz & Larsen produce both mounts and Picatinny rails in 0, 10 and 20 MOA. Please find Picatinny rails here A bolt closing angle of 60 degrees, in combination with a silky smooth operation, again make the Victory an obvious choice for the connoisseur. A three-position safety facilitates unloading in the safe mode. The technical design, in combination with the stress-free “match-grade” barrel, gives the rifle a unique precision. Victory is available in Standard caliber 22-250 308 win 243 win 30.06 25.06 6,5-284 6,5×55 7mm-08 270 win 8X57 JS 7×64 Magnum caliber 270 WSM 7mm rem mag 300 win mag 300 WSM 338 win mag 358 N mag 458 win mag An additional bolt is required when switching to magnum calibers. If you´re looking for other barrel or caliber variations, please find it here. Schultz & Larsen stocks For Victory Grade 1 Grade 2 Grade3 Grade 4 Grade 5 Exhibition Grade Victory Right hand * * * * * * Victory Left hand * * * * * * More info: Victory comes standard with a grade 1 stock, precision rifle barrel in standard caliber and a removable 3 shot steel magazine. The stock features a cheek piece and contrasting grip and end cap. The stock has a brown recoil pad with the option of a red pad starting in grade 3rd. The Victory stock is comfortable to shoot with the design helping minimize recoil. Schultz & Larsen Victory is available in both right and full left-hand version. The interchangeable barrel system allows easy switching between standard calibres from .22-250 to 9.3×62 without even changing the bolt.

Luckily I bought a S&L 100DL in 300 Win two Days ago . The 100 DL has a Six-lug-bolt ( closing in the Barrel) and luxury Walnutwood. Only 361 where built between 1990 and 1994. One of my favourite makers. My friend who was an RFD in the UK had a personal S&L built on an FN commercial action with a heavy barrel. Chambered in .30-06. It WAS accurate. Another RFD had an S&L 97D with an 18" barrel and a moderator. Again chambered in .30-06. Handled beautifully and the action was extremely smooth.

Owning two of those rifles and 7 barrels in 5 calibers, I agrees with most of what you say, however you missed a couple of important features with the gun. The 97DL is a switch-barrel system, and by changing the barrel you can choose from about 22 calibers from 22-250 upp to 458WM. Besides from barrel they only use 2 different bolts, standard and magnum, depending on boltface-diameter. You can also choose from 3 different mags S, L & M. They also have a wonderful "Slide&Lock proprietary scope-mounts that besides from looking the part also work good. The reason for not selling better might be the "Danes", the S&L customer services is as bad as the guns are great...

Thanks for showing that fine rifle. I’ve made the mistake of passing on purchasing nice rifles that were not in my preferred calibre . I always tried to avoid having many different calibres because it complicates reloading, storing, etc. however in the past couple of years I’ve seen some very unique and special fine rifles that are in calibres common in Europe , and not so much North America. I think the 30-06 is such a common cartridge with many different loadings available anywhere that sells ammo, so it’s not a problem. Thanks for video, really looking forward to seeing more of these videos. I’ve seen some really spectacular rifles hit the market in past couple of years, I guess all the young guys are more Interested in “black rifles” which all kinda look the same to me. Nothing can compare to the craftsmanship and beauty of a wood stocked, hand checked, fine machined, hand fitted and bedded, beautifully blued high quality steel barrel rifle that is nicely balanced and topped with high quality optic.

Hey Mike, It’s me again. Another educational and entertaining video! Although the Schultz and Larsen is a Danish and not Swedish designed built rifle rifle, it made me think about the videos you have done in the past about Husqvarna rifles. I looked back through the list and can’t find one with you shooting a Husqvarna in 9.3x62. Is there one out there that I missed? A few years ago I saw a set of 7&61 Sharpe and Hart dies at local flea market for $10.00 U.S. but decided to pass. I started to say I don’t have any Danish built rifles but realized I do have one. Sort of. A 338-06 built by Iver Henricksen. But it’s built on a ‘98 Mauser action. Maybe I can call it my first hybrid, other than corn I might grow. I’m a 71+ year old FUD. Younger viewers will have to Google Iver Henricksen. Happy hunting boys and girls!😊

@@UnitedStatesOfGuns Oh, forgot my question. The magazine capacity is 3 (on my gun, it could be different on the model 100) but in the video you fired 4 shots. So something from the video was cut/left out? Actually loading the rifle fully is quite easy. When empty the action is cycled fully, to make sure its cocked. Then the full magazine is inserted, the bolt is opened until before it passes the end of the top cartridge. Then the chamber round can be easily inserted and the bolt closed. Also the safety has 3 positions. The middle position allows for opening the bolt. Full safe locks the bolt closed.

It makes me sick that the current rifle makers seem to compromise on fitment and almost all of them insist on plastic magazines. On an nice quality hunting rifle the standard should be steel magazines. Its a shame how stingy manufacturing has become, its time to demand more and they dont need to raise prices.

Well done, again. Your videos always encourage me to think of many related things. If you admire this Danish rifle, then surely you are being true to thine own self. I find I must agree that although polymer magazines have become common, and may be durable, I find them irritating and unappealing. I agree that a steel magazine is de rigeur in a high quality rifle, as is a wooden stock. The European economy is a bit unstable; VW just announced it will be laying off 35,000 workers, so perhaps you will have more opportunities to acquire prizes like this S&L. Other interesting news from Europe is that Finland is establishing at least 300 additional shooting ranges, and some spokespersons have made clear that the impetus for this action is the Russian war with Ukraine. There are good reasons the Finns don't trust the Ruskies. It is good to see that you are firing high power rifles again.

I used those 55 grain sabot rounds back in the 80's they worked well on coyotes always wanted a Schultz and Larson in 358 norma magnum I have reached out to them and have never gotten a response. probably because they can't get one to me so why bother?

Yes - that was a very cool sabot load. Maybe they'll bring them back. I also have trouble finding S&L rifles - and you're right - they don't respond. I've been looking for barrels for my 97DL for over a year - silence. Oh well. Merry Christmas!

USOG ---> Sabot is pronounced saa bow. The French do not pronounce the "t" if it is at the end of a word. If there is "tt" then they pronounce the "t". 🤕 {Small wonder that I barely got a "C" grade in 7th and 8th Grade French class.} Yes - those were called the "Accelerator" by Remington. A .22 cal. bullet in plastic put in .30 caliber bottleneck cartridges. They were fast, but not accurate. About 1980's-time frame iirc. That S & L is a nice-looking rifle. Have seen and read about the S & L brand in older issues of "American Rifleman" (decades ago) and "Rifle" magazine. If my memory serves correctly, the magazine writer said that Shultz & Larsen of Denmark had a lackluster Distributor in the U.S., so it was not advertised / made known as much as other brands. {I do not know about Canada.} P.S. I very much agree with your statement about "Benches" and shooting / hunting. 😉

Thank you - sorry about the pronunciation : ) I've learned from my viewers that there are many pronunciations for so many words. I'll try the sea bow again - but last time some people thought I had lost my marbles. 😂 If you punch it in you'll get something like "sa buht" Anyway - we understand one another. Have a Merry Christmas! lawww.google.com/search? q=sabot+pronunciation&oq=sabot+pro&gs_lcrp=EgZjaHJvbWUqBwgAEAAYgAQyBwgAEAAYgAQyBggBEEUYOTIHCAIQABiABDIHCAMQABiABDIHCAQQABiABDIHCAUQABiABDIICAYQABgWGB4yCAgHEAAYFhgeMggICBAAGBYYHjIICAkQABgWGB7SAQkzNDkyajBqMTWoAgiwAgE&sourceid=chrome&ie=UTF-8

@@UnitedStatesOfGuns --- No problem about "sabot",,, but I thought Canada was supposed to be bi-lingual Englais-Francais. :-) Thanks for the video!

Schultz & Larsen rifles are literally the smoothest rifles in the world. Smoother than a modern Tikka and smoother than a vintage Mannlicher Schoenauer. Remarkable. You should also mention S&L are the last and only rifle manufacturer that do cut rifling in their barrels. These barrels and rifles are flawless and peerless. Steel everything and perfect.

Take the rifle out of the stock, underneath you will find two screws, loosen them and you can take the barrel off 😅

Thanks for asking. I own antiques and hunting rifles/shotguns and my target rifles are bolt or falling block or other manually operated action. Pretty boring guns as far as the gun laws go.
