Just did some fall steelhead fly fishing in Ohio's Grand River... though the water was still on the warmer side (mid 50's), dead drift nymphing under a small indicator was working. Really cleaned up with hot spot wooly bugger (@10:37)! Thanks for the great set of varied, simple patterns!

Very nice flies! Very fast too! You make it look so easy lol. I'm just starting to tie. Just bought my first vice. I have formulas for two flies so far plus materials. Good steelhead patterns though. Guess we will see how they turn out. Fingers crossed lol. That first minnow pattern fly you tied is similar to a fly i did well with for kings and cohos this fall. But was tied on a 2/0 octopus hook. I really like these small package streamers in general. Yours are sweet!! Hot spot and egg sucking versions especially. Thanks for sharing!

Just found the channel. Been fishing Erie tribs for steelhead since I was a kid even grew up with a neighbor who taught me to build my own fly rods. Just wanted to say it’s super cool seeing a channel based on the same region.

10:30 pm---How did you set up your line, leader, indicator and fly rig to fish the small streamer? I'd appreciate your description.

All great looking flys. I just subscribed and look forward to more of your videos. As for Steelhead, folks here use a much heavier weighted fly for getting down. How does a heavy tungsten bead version of these work, have you tried it.

What scissors are those with the green handles?

got to ask, why did you take the weight off the regal revolution head?
@dylanmounsey7515 Жыл бұрын
Probably so it looks more natural in the water I find fly guys put a bead on everything and half the time they down too deep or just hanging up

The question is about the Regal vise Greg is tying on not a fly.

Im from northeast ohio. I remember the trips to elk with my old man extremely fondly. Mid 2000s before they put a parking lot by the green bridge. You know tge one. Usually in search of fishable water. I remember locaks crying about it lol. I remember being 15 telling them not to act like half if them dont do the same thing. See PA and NY guys out here. We had no clue the crowds covid would bring

Indicator flies??? Are you fishing these under an indicator?
@MarcTelesha2 ай бұрын
Yes. Look up Jeff Blood that guy perfected this on Lake Erie with his White Death fly. Long leader and the indicator is at the butt section of the leader. I doubted this technique for years. After the guy caught many MANY Steelhead I learned this was the way.
