In all of the home and home decor channels that I subscribe to, I have to say that this is the warmest home that I've seen hands down. The colors are supurb. I couldn't choose a favorite room. I love that John wants to keep the study as a matte finish on the walls. I love, love, love the brick in the house, especially the part brick, part mortar on the walls. OK, OK… It’s like I just had a cup of coffee watching this home… This home, and the home that Heather Chadduck is steward of in colonial Williamsburg have to be my two top favorite homes of all time. 🎉🎉🎉I just saved this home to my watch again videos and I will have to stay at the Dewberry next time my husband and I go to Charleston. I could literally watch a video about this home, this couple and their very precious pooch for an hour, at least! They’re so gracious, and their home deserves a much longer video. Hard to improve on the comments below so all I can think to add is that I don’t always understand the design ethic behind some of the video folks share, but in your case, it’s such an ideal blend, not cluttered, but curated, and for such a grand house, warm and personal. A clearly quite prosperous home and if you aren’t a Leo and Cancerian couple, I’d be shocked. That combination blends grandeur and reserve in equal measure. We’re in the Southwest, so our approach is quite different, but when we were in Raleigh, our home certainly made a similar impression. More tailored, English, and formal but tempered by an ample amount of current objec d’art. Anyhow, nicely done, very nicely done, and thanks for opening it for viewing to distant eyes. Y’all are the cutest couple….look into the four different cries so you can understand the baby…..I am 72 and wish I had that information when I was a new momma….I always saved my baby shoes and put them on my Christmas trees….just not on a real tree….they may get thrown out like mine did! What a lovely old home. It’s beautiful and I love the way you’ve left the exposed brickwork and old less than perfect wood. As someone from England we have many houses/homes like this which are as lovely as yours with creaky floorboards and character in abundance, but many people now ‘sanitise’ their homes by completely getting rid of chimney breasts, breaking down internal walls to create the fashionable, but definitely not cosy, open plan look and then paint the whole house a combination of grey and/or white. We have a lovely home (a lot smaller than yours)…our style is classic and it will never date. I enjoyed every minute of the tour and your thoughts on everything, and the Christmas tree was gorgeous. I hope you eventually master the art of playing the piano!

I adore that kitchen and the raw walls give so much more character and the colour of the units and the layout and the double height ceiling - a before and after wouid have been amazing to see how it was. I like the matt coat on your study area and the dark grey on the stairs which I have in my middle floor. The french wallpaper is beautiful and such a lovely way to use it. Love the hurricane rods.
