Two years ago, Schumacher’s Creative Director and Frederic's Editor-in-Chief, Dara Caponigro, kicked off an exciting series of one-on-one conversations with industry titans all on a Zoom screen. Now, we are proud to reintroduce our series, Deep Dive with Dara, filmed in our Brooklyn studio.
For our inaugural episode, Dara sat down with the illustrious architect, Peter Pennoyer, to talk about his career highlights, classical architecture, and what inspires his timeless work. Many of Pennoyer’s influences stem from the bustling streets of New York City. Everything from The New York Public Library to the anonymous buildings on the Upper East Side, have deep roots in classicism that have inspired so much of his work. He notes that painstaking patience and love are required for executing such historical design. Watch, learn, and listen from this industry luminary and be sure to stay tuned for more of Dara’s Deep Dives.

I love his comment about the solipsism of “modern” architecture and the humility of working within the classical tradition. In the lens of climate, classical buildings made from quality materials will stand for hundreds, if not thousands of yrs. Glass boxes deteriorate and must be destroyed within decades. Glad to see some ppl are still flying the flag for the classical tradition

Wonderful. We all know skilled craftsmen are harder to find along with scholarly designers. Straight forward symmetry has been anathematised when we are probably hardwired to seek it out. This may be why people are so attached to their car? Very fascinating
