I can not thank you enough! I'm a newcomer to Schutzhund. Tracking is one of those things Schutzhund people talk about and around; but they never explain how to start training tracking or what the purpose really is.

Me too!! It's so hard to find really great videos like this one on the basics of Schutzhund. How are people supposed to get into the sport when there's so little help?

I got as far as your comments on speed of tracking and subscribed! 99% sure my rescue GSD is part Malinois and speed and focus in tracking down her ball is the way she thinks. I’ve been dying to see French Ring, Mondio or Shutzhund for beginners on KZbin since it’s not offered in the dog club or privately in our area. I look forward to watching and learning.

this is stressing me the out. This is all new to me. I’ve been tracking with food for 2-3 weeks and I just can not get my puppy to slow down (he’s 17 weeks). He doesn’t skip food on the track but ONLY because I don’t let him progress until he’s eaten the correct piece... To me it feels like I’m rewarding the pulling not the tracking.... It’s kind of making me hate tracking... I skipped tracking this morning for the first time in 2 weeks. Didn’t miss it.

I had no interest in tracking, just put this on to listen to. But it's explained so well that I kept getting pulled in and now I'm looking at my puppy differently . . .lol

Question. Can you train a dog to track AND do scent work? Scent work requires the dog to raise its head to scent the air..can a dog learn both or is it too confusing. I ask because scent work competitions are so readily available while Shutzhund is not but I am loving this tracking skill.

Thank you so much for this video, when you say puppy tracking this advise in this video does this also include bigger dogs like 12 months old with not much tracking experience? 😊

What do you use as articles?
@inkwhiskers99482 жыл бұрын
I have a question: Does the food you use have to be low-scent? Will the dog start to search for the scent of the food instead of the track, or is that what spacing the food is for?

I have German Shepherd puppies available right now that are related to the best bloodlines in the world for protection/K9. Included in the bloodline is the WUSV world champion German Shepherd. We aren't sure how to get the word out about our puppies but they're available in May of 2023 and have the very best potential. We are in the north central U.S. and may be able to deliver.

Common, you need to put both in the same field to evaluate what you want to evaluate, this is not case in compating both dogs tracking and comparing them in a unbiased manner.

I have an issue with this method. That this puts the dog into how to get easily poisoned. One thing we never ever want, is our dog to get any food from the ground.
