I throughly enjoyed this long form interview! I love hearing Schuylar talk about his albums at length. He is one of the best vocalists in hard rock/metal. Quite possibly, the best, if I really sit and think about it. He creates timeless recordings and with each album stretches his limits, creating something better and stronger than the previous record. Please have him back on! I’d love to hear him talk about the recording/writing process of ‘It Hates You’ longer. I believe that to be album where he finds his vocal range, and sets up shop there, so to speak. To the content creator, I’m digging your interview process, brother. Keep up the great work! Peace and respect. 🙏🏻

Man, I'm so glad this band existed. There aren't many artists from your formative years that come back. Even fewer that come back stronger. They've made so much wonderful shit to listen to over the years, it's just been great.

First : ] Been following the Legend since I am Hollywood. They're amazing live and I enjoy each and every one of their albums. One special show I got to see them at their hometown and watch them practicing hours before the show started was a real treat.

That’s so awesome. Must’ve been something special. I got to see them at an after-show show in a warehouse in Los Angeles some years back. Got to stand a couple feet from Adam and see him churn out those gnarly riffs up-close. I’ll never forget that. Seeing them rehearse for a gig must be a whole different level of awesomeness.

@@robbing_trains Ohh yea. Especially in their hometown. But I have had the pleasure of speaking with them and seeing them countless times and agree that chilling around with a small crowd drinking while watching the Legend do work where it all started was definitely a memory i'll never forget.

I drove 6 hours to see them with Norma Jean on my 22nd birthday and ended up arriving 5 hours early, didnt realize the venue was closed at that point because the doors were unlocked (for bands to load in) so me and my friend just walked in like we belonged there, immediately got flagged and questioned by the tour manager, and after explaining the mix up and how ive been a HIL fan since they were The Uriah Omen so we wanted to make sure we were there extra early, we were told to walk up stairs (there was a bar on the second floor) and we were given no further explanation. At the bar was Schuylar. He bought me 2 drinks, answered every HIL question i had, and smoked with me later that night right before going on stage. I also got to meet adam, who gave me a signed copy of Few which at that point was still 2 weeks away from being officially released. These guys are truly the salt of the earth.

I was hoping when you guys were talking about China White that Schuylar would talk about randomly incorporating Blind Melon lyrics towards the end of the song and how he does stuff like that consistently in his lyric writing. Hes by far my favorite lyricist. He is legend deserves so much more than theyve got. Theyre truly unique.

I have loved He is Legend since Suck out the Poison. There will always be a special place in my memories of hearing my first song by them, Mushroom River. As a vocalist myself I can't deny that he has been a strong part of my influences. Thank you Schuylar, for all of the amazing, interesting, and influential lyrics, He is Legend will always be legendary to me. Great interview, first time seeing a deep dive into this band, and it was a great experience!

One of my favorite bands ever. I got to meet him one time at the sattelite bar in wilminton N.C. He just blew through the door and gave me a high five and said whats up and then he just disappeared. It was really weird but super cool. Love seeing a good interview with him. Really enjoyed it, thanks for posting it.

Just found this interview. Been listening to these guys since the beginning. I grew up in Myrtle Beach playing music, and I can attest that the scene there was hot. Blasted their music all through highschool. In early 2011 I went to Wilmington with a friend and hit the bars. We visited a bar called The Satellite and to my astonishment, Schuyler was the bartender! Such an humble dude. I drunkenly asked for an autograph and he at first refused on account he said he didn't think he was worth asking for one. Eventually he signed a bar napkin for me. Looking back I was probably being annoying, but Schuyler was very kind in that moment. They've always been some of my heroes since I never got to play music as a career.

all time favourites. Never made something i didnt like. Cant get enough of how the song lyrics for most tracks tell fantastical stories as opposed to something "to relate to". had the pleasure of drinking with them after a show in Toronto in 2014.

One time at a show in Baltimore I gifted Schuylar and Adam a Tom of Finland card with super erotic hyper-masculine artwork, and a can of sardines. They gave me some Hershey Kisses in return. I wonder if they remember that.

I started getting the hint this interviewer hasn't really listened to their albums. But I agree. What a banger of a record. Still my favorite of theirs. It was a sink of swim moment for HIL. And they torpedoed out of the water with it hates you.
