@@d3AdLyf3 I agree. This is a great little story. The writer is much better than most on THIS platform. Seem's like most creators doing content like this are writing in 1st person. As soon as dialogue is needed in those stories, the perspective usually shifts. Going from 1st person narration to a muddled and broken 3rd person perspective. Which ruins the story completely. The problem I see with 1st person, is if your narrator is using I, Me, We, statements. If you introduce characters, that have dialogue. Those characters need to speak in a realistic manner. So, you can't have a character speaking in 2nd or 3rd person because real world people all talk in 1st person. Often listening to stories written in the 1st person, I think to myself... Why didn't they go back and fix, the 1st person beginning once they realized it wasn't working in the later parts of the story they're trying to tell.

Nice story! I really like the fact that it is not narrated in 1st person. Meaning you understand that 1st person becomes a problem if you have multiple characters. This shows you know how to write a fictional narrative. Most content creators on KZbin seem to be telling stories in 1st person. So, as soon as dialogue comes into play the perspective shifts to third person, which breaks the story completely. Making it unlistenable. You don't have that problem⭐⭐⭐'s for you!👍

It’s more likely a mission to a blocked entryway would drill a hole big enough to send a tube through with a camera and diagnostic equipment. Better yet a dozen tiny drones that could survey beyond the breach. You would have a detailed scan of every reachable area to plan the next phase of the mission. They would have been prepared for that in this scenario to minimize risk and prevent any accidents. Robots go in first before you would send humans in to investigate. We have that technology now and we would definitely use it in this situation. You wouldn’t even need humans to risk their lives if your machines were sophisticated enough. It’s such an incredibly dangerous environment for our frail biology. Anything that hazardous and unknown should be reconned first before anyone sets foot in there. Having said all that, it’s an awesome story just as it is. It just got me thinking more deeply about the idea and activated my imagination and my emotions, which is what makes it a great story. It inspired me to comment. Machines will be better than us at everything eventually. Humans being the risk takers in this story is part of its charm. The risk is key to the storytelling. High stakes and greater dramatic tension. Superb narration.

Drones lose coms inside the ship as indicated by radio loss by the 2 crew. Wiring it will need wires with shielding, too heavy for a space mission.
@grunty1442 ай бұрын
@niccatipay if they're advanced enough to make it to that structure, by then they'd have drones that could operate on basic programming or artifical intelligence to map and record the interior. No need for any kind of signal.

Interesting concept, but clear and easily identifiable references to Halo in Jacob M. Keys, Alien in the derelict ship/structure, and as others have pointed out, the movie Splinter. To me, this was a really neat idea, but the writer executed it poorly. There was so much you could've done with this, especially with the Spirit AI that was controlling the structure which, for whatever reason, seemed to be in a state of 'rampancy,' another reference from Halo. It was telling them it couldn't answer questions due to classification, but was also willing to answer questions. Not only that, but the biggest issue I had was with how unimportant our protagonists made interacting with an intelligence that has been ACTIVE on a ship/station for thousands of years. They asked it a handful of questions at best, none scientific in scope, and then ran off. To me, this is exactly like what happened with certain characters and how they reacted to situations in Prometheus. Also, what is up with every Sci-Fi story seemingly never prioritizing high quality, advanced gear that allows their astronauts to survive against hard-surface objects, like penetrative splinters or knives? It is strange that, by the time we have actually invented a ship capable of traversing our solar-system efficiently, that we haven't created some sort of suit capable of withstanding risks such as these. Human hubris, I suppose, but still a strange decision from my perspective. My only bit of feedback for the editing would be regarding the ambience you used. I'm not sure if it's accurate, but I could have sworn I heard rain and thunder, which for me, was unexpected and took me out slightly. Overall, great job Magnetar, been looking for more folks who touch on the Sci-Fi horror genre with solid narration, really appreciate your editing and individualistic characterization. It made the world feel alive.

well Dean is infected. I thought it was silly to handle spine on an unknown ship with your hands. I do agree they should have had miniprobes to launch into the ship first. But Fean should have told Oram the obvious. There was an infection on the other ship.The other crew that went over there were infected and going back there would expose him and Oram to more infection. However he should have remembered he was infected . So there are some plot holes. Still one of the more realistic sounding stories I have seen thus far on youtube, Finding an unknown ship or probe at a LaGrange point is certainly possible..

Lol this is why ya cant trust A.i. In my opinion since it "knows" its smarter....it will make the best "choice" for you. Sometimes it may think ignorance is best for humanity. So instead of being honesty, it would lie by omission, or just deflect and re-direct questions. What i have never seen a movie ai do...is...take people on an individual case by case basis, except Eagle eye and maybe Mother. Again though they fulfilled their directives through misdirection and omission of truth.

Without criticism their is no growth. I am not an author, I am an editor and my opinion stands. Offering criticism to a work does not equal criticism to the person. Stop being so juvenile.
