Do not change your style. You come across quite intelligent. On many channels one is jarred by all the edits used so as to seem like one take, or obvious reading of cue cards. Yours are clearly steam of consciousness(no pun of episode intended). I enjoy the more expansive reviews, but I prefer going into reads with as little knowledge as possible, and this time “Case of Consciousness”. And “Rogue Moon” quickly caught my fancy.

Thank you Tom, appreciated as always! I'll keep muddling my way through and see where I end up

Excellent episode! Delving into the past of Sci-fi writing is a good topic, but mixing your reviews with a theme is a great way to go to from time to time. I still believe that a comparison to a similar mordem book would be a successful repeatable episode. Occasionally I have to turn down the sound during a review because you do such a thorough job that when a book comes along in which I’d be interested, I need to fade the spoilers, but want you to get the full view time.

Appreciate you considering the view time! I try my best to only really get into events at the beginning of the books, leaving out any major plot points, twists or events.

Great video! That Budrys sounds interesting and frustrating!

Thank you sir! I enjoyed some of the character work like I say but I needed a little bit more... which is what Roadside Picnic does a lot better I think

From your description Rogue Moon does sound a bit like Roadside Picnic with Barker being: kind of a stalker. A Case of Conscience is one I want to read at some point. Great vid as always! 🙌

I'd suggest Ken Macleod's 'Descent' as an interesting cousin of Ian's 'Miracle Visitors'- the topic of UFOs was verbotten in SF circles for many, many years and Watson was brave enough to bring it into SF again (my story "Saucer Occupant" also dared do this). I've just managed to acquire a hardcover of 'MV' after searching for a few years and am looking foward to reading it again. I don't always find Watson conducive, but he's NEVER dull....

Thanks for that, I'll keep that in mind. He does do something quite unique but I don't think it was to my tastes. I will check out the hardcover too

@@SciFiFinds I love some of his books and find others irksome, but at least he's unpredictable, which in SF is a virtue.

Exactly the theme I was looking for, thx for the reviews! New to the channel, but do you do a 'Top Sci Fi novels I have read in 2024' or something like that?

Hey, thanks for watching and commenting! I will be doing a tier ranking of every science fiction book that I've read this year, which should be around 70 books. Let me know if there is anything else you'd like to see from me and I'll see what I can do

Time to subscribe to this booktuber. Hi stranger! Wow, it's been almost a year since you took me into the world of Carl Sagan… I guess it's time for a bit more bookish-science-fiction content
@SciFiFindsАй бұрын
Haha reluctantly took you into that world... and don't call me a booktuber.

@@SciFiFinds I liked it. Maybe I should reluctantly take you to another genre as well at some point 🤔 & I'll ask another time what I should call you, but I promise not to ask for a skin care routine… yet.
