I was really loving that, and then.................wtf? Is there a part 2? Now we have an end to a story with no end! Are we never going to find out who took Keo, why they took Keo, where did they take Keo, what does the future hold for Keo and his sister???? And the biggest conundrum of all.........why didn't Keo want his laces tied?

There are a lot of really really solid aspects of this, the actors/background characters, sets/props, cinematography. Overall great performance and setup for something. Maybe I missed it somehow but for a short film titling itself biopunk I really didn't get any major biopunk vibes, just general post apocalyptic vibes.

I watched the latest video from DUST, and once again, I found myself puzzled. Their films often have a unique, surreal quality, but this one took it to another level. It felt like there was no clear plot or direction, leaving me scratching my head. I finished watching it and honestly still didn’t understand the intended message. DUST has a knack for creating strange narratives that challenge conventional storytelling, but sometimes that lack of clarity can be frustrating. I appreciate the creativity, but I wish I could grasp what the filmmakers were trying to convey. It's an intriguing experience, but I left feeling more confused than enlightened. Have others felt the same way about their films?

Nice one, well directed, something like this should probably be stickied to every DUST video though: these are all short films, usually made for festivals, to get people interested in a project, attract investors, or for the filmmakers to network. Yes, it would be nice if each one told a cohesive story in 6-10 minutes, but thats really, really hard to do. Usually, the filmmaker will find the most interesting parts of a longer script and try to make a short out of a scene or two, in order to showcase their competency and attract further funding or producers. A lot of the time, its completely paid for out of their own pockets, and if it doesnt hit, then the either go onto the next one, stop making films, or attempt to bootstrap a feature on their own. This is how the movie industry works at the bottom. Hopefully, this explains why so many of these shorts end abrupt and/or dont follow a traditional narrative structure.

The details in this short film were off: Dystopian world and there’s a printer? There are freshly printed images used through the entire early part of this short. Costumes were all either too new or so ratty everyone looked cliche. The props were poorly put together for all of the “gadgets.” 3D printers exist… Stop with all the really up close shots and camera movement. Whoever does your sound engineering, wtf? There’s either too much background noise or the characters sound like they’re much closer than the shot would emphasize. You could’ve studied Children of Men for 5 minutes and fixed this whole short.
@justinklenk2 ай бұрын
Agreed - whole list. 👍 (Couldn't help but to compare it to Children of Men, too.) And the unconvincing, cringey actor playing the suicide-bomber - that was unfortunately the worst part.
