For people who failed to follow the plot. After a solar flare , certain children began emitting radiation when exposed to sunlight. This caused a societal collapse Regular people began imprisoning or killing these kids to protect themselves from the radiation. She's in a community that teaches the children to suppress the phenomena , but they can also choose to embrace it at which point they become "Elders". She chooses to become an Elder at the end.
@overbuiltlimited3 ай бұрын
Were you involved with the production or something? Because if that’s actually what is going on here, this one is going to need a 100% rewrite and then complete reshoot. Sheesh.
@glennchartrand54113 ай бұрын
@@overbuiltlimited No , every bit of the story is in the show. It's in the dialogue and shown on the props.
@glennchartrand54113 ай бұрын
What's going on is if a script is written for someone with an IQ of 100 you lose half your potential audience. So almost all mass media is written at a level someone with an IQ of 83 can understand , because 90% of the population has an IQ over 83. It's why pop culture is so "dumbed down" If someone is raised on a diet of pop culture , they never develop the ability to follow the plot unless it's spoon fed to them , usually multiple times. (A cool drinking game is to watch CSI and take a shot every time a major plot point is explained more than once....you'll be drunk by the second commercial break) Re-watch the film, pay close attention to what people are saying because the plot points are only mentioned once , study the props (especially the newspaper clippings) and you'll see the entire plot I just described.
@schmodedo3 ай бұрын
While the rest of your take may be mostly on par, I'm not quite sure about her "choosing to become an Elder". What I got from the dialogue is that the girl and her mother have never really been apart since she started manifesting her abilities. They came to the commune looking for help but still don't quite trust Frank (which is also mentioned in the description as "figuring out where their intentions and loyalties lie"). It's also apparent from the dialogue that her powers are manifesting in a way that hasn't been seen before. In the end, after the encounter with the two "hunters", the girl and her mother realize that it is best (safer for both) for her to go with Frank and join the commune.

All of that explanation is lost in production.... such a shame because It's a great start. 30 seconds of someone explaining that would have helped.

Oh maaaaan, this is BINGE WORTHY!!! When is the full film or series dropping? The suspense is unreal from the get go, the back story world that is left to be desired has so much avenues to explore and even a future style exploration is exciting to think about... the acting, the directing the script have me on the edge of my seat... exploring the power that lies within that we all have which some of us are more connected to is a scary uncharted space in this modern world, the unknown is always met with fear as history has shown so I can't wait to see how this is developed... #IGotYou #DayLightRules

The very ending was confusing. The surges are coming again, so everyone was in danger, two ways of handling the surges, got it. Touching goodbye between mother and daughter. But I thought the man was to take her to the Elders in the bunker? Why is he letting her do the solar thing again when she got hurt just yesterday? Did he grow out of being affected?

After a solar flare , some children began emitting radiation when exposed to sunlight. (Most of that is revealed by the newspaper clippings and shown on the radiation meters) The adult Male keeps listing off the safety rules to keep her from emitting radiation. During the dialogue between the two adults you find out that the Mother and her Daughter came to this remote community because they can teach children to suppress the phenomena, that someday she'll be able to walk uncovered in the Sun without emitting radiation. During the conversations between the Mother and Daughter , you find out that the girl is hesitant to suppress the phenomena, that she actually enjoys it and feels drawn to it. After they are captured, the things their captors say , reference back to the newspaper clippings , letting you know that normal people are capturing the "sun children" and locking them away to protect themselves because the radiation they emit caused society to collapse. (It's why they are scared, angry, bitter and look impoverished.) Once they are freed , the "sun girl" and the adults talk , and she tells them that she has decided to embrace the phenomena, her Mother accepts it and says her goodbyes ...and that's when you find out that people who fully embraced the phenomena are called "Elders" and her eyes start to glow.

As much as I enjoy seeing David Ajala in anything-he could just read his grocery list-this doesn't tell any story. The video caption reveals more than the screenplay does. This lack of any real context or resolution for 10 minutes is more offputting than anything else. This needs work before it's worth anyone's time to watch and I really wish Dust would stop posting these concept video demos with no followthrough.

Sure there is. People like her absorb the power of the sun, and that shows in their eyes. That frightens people because they see the energy as either something to capture or harness, or destroyed out of fear. It depends if its viewed from science, or religious nut jobs. The dialogue indicates that she's next level, and could be a projection of the future with a new species emerging. As a lot of humans are destructive of anything new, she needs to join the group to be safe. Now, this is like movie trailer, and the next step would be to follow it into a new future.
