Why do you think that millions, if not billions, of people drink, bathe in, cook with, etc tap water and don't come down with rampant GI problems or parasites which can be dangerous to the human organism, etc. Because the immune system (and especially a quite healthy, well-functioning immune system) kills off the "bad bacteria" (and don't forget, not all bacteria are necessarily harmful to humans.
