Hey there, Mr. LogicalGeekBoy. I just wanted to mention that I really appreciated your 1.13.x carrot/potato farm design. I built mine expanded back out to 18x18 to fit into a column under other farms, and this required that I write some code to search for an arrangement of lights to get that single farm block down to a light level of 7. Ping me (theosib) on SciCraft or EigenCraft discords if you're interested in knowing the layout that was generated.

I wonder if planning for a skyblock arena is just a coincidence or if we got the idea from a common source. I've got a casual player / experimental test server I run, where people have just built whatever, but we can then use that to profile the code, identify bugs, etc. Just for fun, I proposed when doing initial plans nearly a years ago that we might do some skyblock stuff too. This was inspired directly by Acheron having done his own vanilla survival skyblock youtube more than a year prior to that. (Although being casual play, we have no plans for elaborate bedrock removal.) Anyhow, it'll be interesting to see the real professionals do it. That is, in contrast to us, mostly derping around but also trying to lag and crash the game, given that we're playing 1.13.2. :) Don't be surprised if I (at least) mimmic some things you do in the event that you find annoying quirks in the game for us to reproduce. So far, one of the most significant 1.13.x problems we've encountered is ocean biomes messing with the mob caps and spawn rates. Spawn was originally in an ocean biome, and this caused a lot of lag, we couldn't get any ink sacs (particularly in 1.13.2), and mob drop farms worked very poorly. Simply relocating spawn (something we did on an otherwise vanilla server for its utility in testing) to not include any ocean biomes and restarting the server made a massive difference. For most users, the work-around for them would amount to rejecting any seeds that put spawn in an ocean biome.

Question, are those World Eaters efficient to make? For example, if you're in a pretty fresh world, would it be more efficient to dig everything yourself with enchanted Diamond tools or farm the resources and build a world eater?
@benjaminw.14716 жыл бұрын
Definitely the world eater for anything the size of a perimeter. Yeah, it'll take some to time build a slime farm, iron farm, tree farm, and potentially a redstone farm (e.g. witch hut or villager trades), plus the time to prep the area, build the machine, and run it. But compared to digging it by hand, it'll probably still be faster, and be way more interesting than digging by hand. Idk what's the largest area you've ever dug, but it gets boring REALLY quickly. edit: you don't even need a proper tree farm, you can easily bonemeal large spruce trees to get enough wood for the pistons in an hour tops.

if the instant redstone line loads the chunjs anyway, whats the difference when its in the same chunk where the frosted ice is? whats so different about the ice highway?
@snowinjuly48726 жыл бұрын
CatzHoek Basically, the frosted ice ticks itself, refreshing its position in the queue and thus preventing itself from being unloaded if a permaloader is active. Redstone, when not being used, does not schedule anything, so it is unloaded by the autosave due to inactivity.
@gildeddrake14796 жыл бұрын
why do they need the ice anyway ? they have no reason to go back there once it's automated.
@smugless1916 жыл бұрын
I think it was originally for repairing the instant wires which have a chance to break. But since then they have come up with new wires that don't' break.
@snowinjuly48726 жыл бұрын
Gilded Drake Its for maintenance: making sure the wires are in order. Max said that they don’t need to do it but that’s not actually true: it’s still possible for a block to be duped or deleted even with the updated design that fixed the issue of “stuck” pistons.
