been subscribed since late 2015. No idea how many subs he had at the time, maybe a few thousand. I originally found his channel when I was looking for a vine farm and his was the only one on youtube that didn't suck (I was trying to make my own, with water streams pushing an upwards facing player, but that turned out to be extremely complex compared to just having a sidewards facing player. I did get it to work using slimeblock launchers to move the player vertically to avoid sideways movement in the wrong direction since vines are super narrow so realignment would be near impossible, but it wasn't super easily expandable and I'm not sure how reliable my design was anyway).

To automating the feeding: the bred donkey child could trigger a tripwire, which triggers a piston to shove a block between the player and the donkey so that the player just right-click spams the block. A clock could then retract after the breeding cooldown has expired. You can make multiple modules next to each other and seat the player into a minecart for full automation. Maybe dispensers on the ends of the rails for restocking the inventory?

About the babies trying to get back to their parent! You can hide another donkey closer to the waterways so it paths to that one instead - they don't need line of sight to find them either!! If they still try to find the original parent, maybe a larger drop could work? I have bred 10000 horses in survival. My setup isn't quite as automatic and I am taking advantage of a client-side mod that tells you the speed of (un)tamed and even baby horses with a single click. I didn't go for a direct drop route with baby horses, but that seems to work with anvils. In my setup I have them standing on fences and the horse is surrounded in a 3x3 of fences. I then press a button to flush the baby horse away with water coming from above, as without it the baby horse and parent will stand inside each other. My personal fastest horse for now is around 13.47 m/s. Not getting a faster horse in 1000 breeding attempts is normal, I really dislike how Mojang made the breeding system :P Still have 1 m/s of improvement to go.
@zedfalcon69722 жыл бұрын
@ilmango you know what'd be really cool? semi-automatic improved donkey breeder: Use the donkey/end portal based dupe trick to copy the best donkey and avoid breeding cooldown. Have the player just holding right click and forward and build a system around the player to detect for slight improvements in speed, swapping out the best donkey each time.

Changes I want to make to ridable mobs so they’re not so useless: 1. Horses should have a small 9 slot inventory space and be ridable by 2 players. 2. Donkeys, mules and llamas should have one full chest worth of inventory space. 3. Camels should have a full double chest of inventory space since they’re so slow. If Mojang made these changes people might actually start using these mobs.

What about a sort of vertical design where the player drops in to the spot breeding is allowed and then trapdoors open and flush them back, up with bubbles, and over the zone again. A clock can control the timer that drops them in and then a piston pulses them to the side to tag the other donkey then the trapdoor opens. This could be stacked for multiple donkey levels and might not even need a timer except the very top section
@Andrii-zc4dp2 жыл бұрын
There is an easy solution to your donkeys getting stuck: Just add fence under the last flowing water, so the donkey will be pushed up on top of the slab. Because this is just a comment, I will describe this in detail, because there may be another way of interpreting what I said. there is a block under the slab(crystal), to the left(against the water current) there is a solid block, replace it with a fence.
@zkeletonz0012 жыл бұрын
The simplest solution would be to have a one block drop down every 6 or 7 blocks and make the whole thing one continuous water stream. You could put the breeder donkeys at whatever elevation you need them to be in order to make sure the end of the water stream is at the right Y level.

Instead of viewing the problem as preventing the player from mounting the donkey, you could view it as dismounting the donkey. Having the donkey submerged in water dismounts the player (or just click out of the donkey if that is possible). Completely detection based, no timings needed. Speed shouldn't be a big issue with the 5 min delay. And to test for taming you should be able to dispense a saddle onto them, or detect the lack of their AI when ridden maybe (might only be with saddle idk).
@user-pw5do6tu7i2 жыл бұрын
Might be able to take advantage of the riding mechanic when breading. Instead of the water stream moving the player, feed ride (which tp you +2blocks) then you get a golden carrot. While riding that first donkey you feed the next, then ride that one. Would theoretically be cheaper on carrots, but the modules would be more work

So I replaced what I had with this set up, however sadly they wouldn't breed through the wall. Had to revert to keeping them suspended over water, on top of a wall, and both in the same boat. I did put anvils on top of opened trap doors and still used the fence gates but placed them a block lower. Works like a charm for any curious bedrock players.

What if the donkeys were on an oscillating water current? Like water flow pushed them past you in order, a single carrot was dispensed each time they crossed a string then the water current held them within breeding range of each other but past your reach and then after a cooldown timer the water current direction was reversed and then they passed again through a tripwire on the other side that dispensed a carrot? That way you’ll always have one or two extra carrots just in case the water current doesn’t move them fast enough, but it won’t be an egregious waste? Unsure how to sort out the babies from this set up tho
