As someone who still reads manga but largely stopped watching anime, this is the only thing I've been excited to watch this season and it has blown me away as a manga reader. I'm very happy with where the visuals diverge from the manga, giving this adaptation it's own flare while retaining that action packed/ goofy fun element that made me love the manga in the first place.

@@KidEgoMedia I'm not caught up I think I got upto when the alien girl gets introduced before I stopped reading (no reason I've just been reading other things and whatnot) but I'd say my favourite arc was with the creepy family when jiji gets his powers and they have that insane battle.

I love the character driven storyline, and that manage to find value in themselves through them putting their self on the line for each other.

I’ve only listened to a few of these review videos, but I’m surprised that so far none of them have mentioned FLCL as an influence or comparison. I’m only 4 episodes in, but so far that’s the only other work that I think comes close to the same vibes and style, and I’ve spoken to other people that agree. Even the origin story is similar, as FLCL was supposed to be a meaningless pallet cleanser for the studio between major works, so they were given free reign to make whatever they wanted.

It's actually wild but so far in all my research he never mentioned FLCL. And I do definitely see the comparison. A lot of people say it's FLCL mixed with Mob Psycho. And I didn't know that about the OG FLCL and the studio
