This is question 7 from the leaving cert higher level maths 2020 paper 2. It is an area and volume question. In part (a) we use Pythagoras to find the height of a right circular cone. We then calculate the curved surface area of the cone and calculate the angle at the centre of the sector which is made from the net of the cone. In part (b) we use similar triangles to calculate the radius if we change the height and then calculate how long it takes to fill the cone with water when given the flow rate. Finally in part (d) we again use similar triangles to find another new height in order to have a specific volume.
