Barman400 solar panels a easy to break so sweeping them would have to be a very delicate process and would have a risk of breaking the panels on the process

Addition to the next rover... a Winch with a built in Grapple Launcher to pull itself out after it gets stuck. :-)

@badman400 Weight constraints. Mission designers had an all-up weight limit that they could not exceed. If sweepers had been fitted to clean the solar panels, something else, like a science experiment, would have had to be left out. As expected, during its operational life, dust did accumulate on the solar panels, but most of the dust was cleared by the wind and, surprisingly, the occasional dust devil that came whirling by.

:) Maybe we'll hear back from SPIRIT in another few decades, such as we did the old Soviet rover that has recently (last few years) started beaming back to Earth again?!!

Use legs not wheels NASA. Like those beetles that run on sand in those harsh deserts environment. Here an Idea, search the game called Pikmin and see how much we can learned from it. Lets those little robots gather the the intel, while the ship beam them to Earth.
