Hydrogen A lighted wooden splint makes a popping sound in a test tube of hydrogen. Oxygen A glowing wooden splint relights in a test tube of oxygen. Carbon dioxide A lighted wooden splint goes out in a test tube of carbon dioxide but this happens with other gases, too. It is better to bubble the test gas through limewater - calcium hydroxide solution. Carbon dioxide turns limewater cloudy white.

Anya Nanning Ramamurthy we also need to know the one for chlorine. It bleaches damp litmus paper turning it white. May turn red first because chlorine solution is acidic but it should then turn white. But these tests are all in topic 8, paper 2 so maybe that’s why they all weren’t included in this video

In fuel cells, hydrogen is formed at the anode (which is seen as the negative electrode in hydrogen fuel cells) and oxygen at the cathode not the other way around :)
