I live near the "hotel", and have driven past it many times. I may be wrong, but I have heard that the ground level is used to store maintenance equipment/vehicles related to the freeway it sits beside. And if that picture is supposed to be of the geoglyph of Marree Man it doesn't look anything like him, nor is it in the right location.

I would love to be able to post the picture of my three gorgeous children enjoying Shell Beach in Western Australia in 2003, tossing shells in the air. The state of Western Australia is so big it took us eight months to get out of the place from when we first entered. Sometimes I thought we would never see the end of it. There is so much to do, but unlike other states, the population is scant and far apart so it not only takes awhile to get from place to place but when you do arrive somewhere you are likely to see someone who lives down the road from you as we did, meeting a couple whose son I went to school with. Or you are likely to be enjoying the place all by yourself, such as remote Shell Beach which was empty of others when we visited.

Australia is not the only place to have beaches composed of shells. Beaches on the far north west coast of Scotland are made up of crushed shells, This makes them very white and the "Sand" comprises of little flakes that are very difficult to wash out of your beach footwear. The small flakes not being rock grains, cling to every surface inside your shoes and cannot be shaken or brushed out..

I've been to wittenoom and spoke to a old lady who was still living there, and she told me the miners lay on their backs to pick away at the asbestos with no masks, and that is why they died of mesthothelioma. You can see the blue aspestos on the ground. My friends husband died because aspestos was used to coat pipes in the SEC here in Victoria. She said she would shake his overalls out before washing them, and the dust would fly out into the air. That also reminds me that brakes on the trains where made of asbestos, and when a train left the station, you would see the flakes in the air. Interesting isn't it when you take out all the hype.

26:00 It's called the "dog proof fence" and has specific legislation attached to it. For example, it is unlawful for any person to pass by a damaged section of the fence without stopping to repair it - even if that would cost someone his or her job by making him or her late for work; and there are no provisions in the legislation to pay for this coerced labour. Thankfully, most of us don't live close-by. However, it's worth noting that the attached legislation is so much more a bizarre spectacle than the fence itself.

There bloody large enough! I encountered them when they were attracted to the lights in an amenities block near the Snowy Mountains whilst I was camping. Wasn't all that eager to go in, so took my German Shepherd for protection. I have a phobia to moths and butterflies, so these things didn't thrill me!
