They were most likely unpaid part time volunteers that spend most of their money on courses themselves, he definitely wasn't very clued up, higher level don't usually act like him. For a start at first they rarely mention their crazy prices since it would frighten most newbies away, instead they often try to sell you a free personality test, perhaps along with the initial cheap book Dianetics followed by a cheap introductory course that they'll claim will dramatically improve and change your life forever. PS: Even those extortionate prices given were just the start of it, you could ultimately spend tens of thousands on courses, auditing, membership and materials, it can completely take all your money and life so there is nothing else.

Excellent video AA, thank you for all your considerable efforts to get this gem. Things blew up so quickly that I had to rewind a few times to pick up every wonderful nuance. I bet that poor bastard is under a lot of pressure as not only are his stats falling but that building costs way too much to rent given the very few Science Fictionists who were 'studying' the pronouncements of Mr Lovely-Teeth there. All the stuff about communication, the tone scale, being in total control of one's emotions etc yet this poor deluded fool gets uppity the moment Scientology's current dictator is brought into question. He seemed to be highly sensitive about it, as though he was brainwashed into a cult or something. What an overreaction to a perfectly innocent question. It was almost like he knew precisely what you were talking about, and wanted it kept under your hat. Sort of "We can't have paying customers finding out what is actually going on". The average staff in a small org truly believe everything they've been taught and are dedicated to what they think is helping others, the majority are unpaid part time volunteers that spend most of their hard earned cash on courses themselves. A few can be paid staff that earn just enough to get by and will work crazy amounts of hours on top without pay, they sometimes have to share a home with other Scientologists to survive on so little, but they get many ridiculously overpriced courses included which they see as a great privilege. Like many organisations it's the ones at the top of the pyramid that are corrupt, they exploit the vulnerable so they can live a life of luxury.

I would love to do this myself, but I suspect that they have my photo at every org with a 'DO NOT LET THIS PERSON IN!" note attached. I remember when Scientology Brighton was a really happening place. 1986 - seems like a very long time ago now. Their current premises is pathetic. How do they expect anyone to find them or even walk in off the street? Back in the day, they were selling books by the skip load and dragging people in by the dozen. Just a suggestion, but I think I might have asked for a tour. You might have seen something interesting. Also try and get them talking about themselves. Surprising what you can learn once you get people to open up.

I had a tour at the London org and pushed to see places that they didn’t initially offer such as the “chapel” and cafè. Met a “clear” who admitted he still drinks alcohol, so not sure how that works seeing as alcohol is a drug that brings about the reactive mind.

They have small orgs dotted around the country as well as a few larger more wealthy orgs, in the UK they own Saint Hill Manor that was once the home of L.Ron.Hubbard himself, they have many special events there. There's many wealthy orgs in the USA where they're a lot bigger with some celebs into it, unlike most people they can easily afford their ridiculous prices so they don't experience being broke constantly to pay for them. Scientology even own a cruise ship called The Freewinds which Scientologists pay large amounts to do courses on, or at least they did, not sure if it's still operational.

They have lots of nice buildings but none aside from the ‘spiritual Mecca’ in Clearwater Florida is wealthy other than via the value of the bricks & mortar building. Saint Hill for example has been failing for decades, it can just about pay the bills unlike most orgs but it’s certainly not the roaring success it was in the 60s when Hubbard was there.Most orgs can barely keep the lights on without resorting to things like financial fraud due to there being so few people involved, 20-30k worldwide. The big donors pay direct to the corporate management entities, that money bypasses the local organisations who have to work out how they can pay their 20k electricity debt with only half a dozen customers’ doing low level courses.
