Jason acquired his rugged voice to match his rugged good looks after pulling out his breathing tube (unintentional) when he was intubated after a serious car accident. Don’t know if he has any lasting effects besides the hoarseness, but sadly self-extubation often results from inexperienced staff.

Probably won't be noticed by OP after all this time, but all German states have a commissioner on cults. The state of Hamburg had a special Scientology taskforce until 2010 (this recording probably was made at one of its meetings). The taskforce was headed by Ursula Caberta, she gave them hell for years and years and worked towards banning Scientology altogether. I only write this because she put herself out there knowing what horrible things this cult might try to stop her but she performed her duties admirably and went far beyond what was called for. I have great respect for her.

Richard Day The IRS gave in to them as part of an extortion deal. Scientology had thousands of lawsuits tying up IRS and individual IRS workers that would’ve taken years and a lot of money to close out so they promised to drop them all in trade for tax exemption status. This is even after they were busted for sending people into IRS offices to steal all the information they had on Hubbard and Scientology (Operation Snow White). They were almost a billion dollars behind on taxes and were almost bankrupt and would’ve been defunct if the IRS had denied their status. 😒

Germany, having some experience with absolutist ideogical systems of belief, classifies scientology as a private enterprise commonly known as a "public enemy." they do not have tax-exempt status like in the US and their activities are monitored by the gov't

I Googled to see if Scientology got tax exempt status in Germany and at first glance, I thought they had. After checking Wikipedia I found they didn't get recognised as a "church" and has no tax exemption, I am correct, right? Please tell me I am right!

German here. You are right. Plus, their activities are observed by our "Verfassungsschutz" (Federal Office for the Protection of the Constitution) for the violation of democratic principles. And I, as a teacher, had to declare that I'm no member of Scientology to get hired with the state, same thing with policemen, judges and other federal or state employees.
