As a father who has been disconnected from my son for over a decade. He insists that he would like me to see my grandchildren which struck a cord when you talked about a mother's desire to reintroduce herself to her children through a set of Scn books. For me., this is an open wound because seeing my grandchildren through a plate glass window will stir up emotions that are better left alone. My son doesn't have the wherewithal as a second Gen Scn to leave and I can't stand by and watch my son continue down the rabbit hole.

One thing I am currently trying to wrap my head around. Scientology has this huge reincarnation thing, yeah? You coulda been anything. You are not your body, you are a thetan with a body. But why is it so dang important then that you adhere to your body's shape, in gender and sexuality?
@ChrisSheltonMsc2 ай бұрын
That is one of the fundamental hypocrisies of Hubbard imposing 1950s sexual/gender norms on all Scientologists now despite their "spiritual existence." It doesn't make any sense to an objective observer but to Scientologists it does.

Hi Chris, I can understand your anger and frustration over Linkin Park platforming a Scientologist in this way. However, I think you can use this to bring information about coersive mind control and Scientology to a wider audience. People who might have scrolled past your content before will check it out if it seems relevant to this famous person and band. So make it worth their while to do so. You have an abundance of compassion and insight and a gift for explaining things clearly. So why not talk about issues like isolation, discipline, child neglect, cognitive dissonance, homophobia, maintaining relationships with cult members and so on? You can include Emily, her mother and Scientology as examples without making it all about them. Great content as always. Keep up the good work!

Guys, just give Emily time. She has so many new things to deal with at the moment and is climbing to a whole new level of stardom almost overnight. There's so much coming at her. Emily openly admits to being queer. So she can't really be an active Scientologist at the same time. It's just not possible. She's probably just holding back so as not to cause her mother any more problems than she probably already has. The more successful she becomes, the bigger the platform will be if she does decide to stand up against Scientology one day. To grill her now is stupid and inhumane. Besides, the members of Linkin Park seem very intelligent and communicative to me. I'd be surprised if they hadn't discussed the issue with Emily. Meanwhile, Emily is doing a wonderful job as lead singer on the first tour. Let's give her this experience.

You really don't know anything about Scientology, do you? She can be queer and be a Scientologist at the same time. You really don't know what you're talking about and it's quite sad to see people going so far out of their way to act like cult apologists. I have posted over 1,000 videos on this channel to educate people such as yourself about why Scientology is NOT just a religion or another "self-help" activity but you don't care about any of that because you can just write off the abuses and say it's all good and leave poor Emily alone. Her mother is being tortured by David Miscavige right now and this is your response? The willful ignorance demonstrated by your comment is simply astounding

@@ChrisSheltonMsc That's a tough answer, Chris. Wow. But I don't think I deserve it, because my statements are not meant in the way you portray them. But I have to accept it. I respect your work very much. All the best for the future.

You seriously pissed me off. Sorry if that was too harsh. I am not at all ok with how Linkin Park, their PR people and pretty much their entire fan base has just collectedly shrugged over this. Scientology is a destructive, abusive cult that violates people's human rights every single day. I'm not going to just roll over and allow Scientologists to be normalized in society. The very least that anyone can do is call it out for the destructive cult that it is, not give it a pass. If there is anything I've been trying to do for the last 10 years it is get people to not write the kind of comment you wrote. My efforts have been in vain.

@@ChrisSheltonMsc Man, you gave it to me like Tommy Davis in his “best” days. 😅 All kidding aside, I was really just trying to express that I'm not sure if Emily Armstrong is really an active Scientologist. In the end, however, this is all speculation. However, in her case, having a mother in the Sea Org probably also means having more or less no mother. So don't be angry with me if I assume that she is primarily a victim caught between several stools. Chris, your work is of course not in vain, and you know that. So many people refer to your work. I, personally, admire you for it and have learned a lot from it - believe it or not. Incidentally, I spent almost two years in Scientology, almost half a year as staff in the CC in Hamburg back in the 80s or early 90s. I then realized pretty quickly that I was wasting my time and left through the backdoor. Good for me. Mitch Brisker talks about Emily's mother, whom he knows well, in the latest episode on his channel. Maybe interesting for you? And btw: "The Emptiness Machine" is a perfect title for the so-called Church of Scientology, don't you think? 🤔
@ChrisSheltonMsc2 ай бұрын
Totally right there. And I get where you're coming from, but in this particular case Emily is a public figure and has put herself on the public stage and with that comes the baggage of Scientology. She has not dealt with or even acknowledged that. There could be any number of reasons for that but Scientology being an abusive, criminal organization, she doesn't get a pass on that the same way a Catholic should. It's a very different thing, at least as I see it. However, my voice is just one in the crowd and right now mine is very much the minority view. I understand that. The Emptiness Machine is truly a great title for Scientology!
