It kind of feels like how abusive relationships work but in a shorter space of time, but a much more intense situation for a short space of time. Because abusers make you empathise with then even if they are being horrific towards you. It isn't all being trapped, it's the way they make you feel about yourself and them.

I listened to this on Spotify but I came here to ask you HOW THE HELL you managed to talk about Stockholm Syndrome for almost an hour without mentioning the One Direction song a single time. I had it stuck in my head all the way through listening to this. Other than that it was a fantastic episode!

My favourite part of this episode as a Swede you ask? Well it’s a tie between 1. Mentioning casually that another criminal showed up, when it was actually one of the most famous criminals in Sweden, that at the time was serving a prison sentence, which Olson demanded to be brought to the bank and it ended being a government decision against the prime ministers will to meet Olson’s demand. 2. Casually dropping the name Olof in the quote from the woman in the hostage situation when the Olof she is talking to is the prime minister, who to date is Sweden’s most famous one and every swede knows the name of because he was murdered a few years later.

This reminds me of a role-playing convention I went to many years ago; one scenario I played was a botched bank-robbery, we were the robbers, and the characters were strangers, just as the other players and the GM were to me. It was one of the most intense sessions I have played, to the point that we were LARPing half of the game, and I felt a definite (but short lived) emotional bond with the others after. This didn't occur in Stockholm, Sweden though, It was in Gothenburg... P.s. We all love a good heist-movie, doesn't seem like it's a big stretch to sympathise with the bank-robbers, and what bank-worker hasn't fantasised about doing an inside-job?!

So the original animated Beauty and the Beast movie from Disney is not Stockholm Syndrome intresting
@Ri574903 жыл бұрын
It's not but Belle is still stupid for offering to take her father's place being imprisoned by the beast, instead of going back to the village and getting an angry mob together to kill the beast and free her father

There are some really Major kidnapping cases where people who where being abused and other things got it so it’s not just because the captors were being nice ish. I’m less than half way through so they might say this :)
