Where did life on Earth come from? Some famous scientists believed that aliens may have intentionally colonised Earth with microscopic life. It may sound crazy, but they might be more convincing than you think...

ok but wouldn't it be so funny if we sent life to another planet and then in a few billion years their society would be sitting there wondering how life evolved on their planet just being like nah it probably wasn't aliens

One of the reasons I love this podcast is because Corry takes such a logical approach to philosophical ideas that I don’t hear often. Things like atheism, anti-capitalism, and being vegan: it just makes sense and would be more popular concepts if humans weren’t awful. I don’t see this being a popular comment…hence why KZbin comment sections are not usually the best place for discussion of big ideas. But putting it out anyway

Natural selection isn't inherently a competition. In a species with a huge capacity for cooperation and committing to shared endeavors over a long period of time, it would make more sense that what was selected for would be the ability to co operate, which would mean that as time went on humans evolved to be more and more peaceful.

Hello Sci Guys, I've just finished my first year in Biochem at Oxford, from a working class background and would just like to clarify for people thinking of applying to oxbridge that yeh ur not allowed a set job in term time, as you will not have time (shorter terms so they set more work due in 1 week). But you are allowed to work in the longer holidays. But also, Oxford gives out much bigger bursaries than other universities. So, if your worried about the finances of going to oxford look into the university bursaries as well as the college ones. They also offer plenty of scholarships, they will just email you when you get there if you are eligible :) P.s I love this podcast!! I remember listening to the prion episode last year, then we covered it in 1st year lectures and I wrote about it in one of my and of year exams!! Also, I was born in 2003 :))

I love listening to you guys while working! I'm a curious soul and these podcasts are a perfect way to keep the day interesting. I never want a day to go by without learning something new and you guys have made that promise entertaining to keep. My favourite episodes so far have been the wood wide web and atomic gardens. Can't wait to listen to all the rest, thanks for the great work and immersive experience! :)

With whether we should shoot microorganisms out it into space, I can't help but think that if it got a planet where there was already a civilisation it might wipe them out with disease and that would be a bit rude

This stuff is really fun to fantasize about but that's pretty much all... Adrian Tchaikovsky's Children of Time and Children of Ruin touch a lot of these subjects. Why would humans go on to seed life on other planets and what could be the results of it? And what about if some planet already has life and it's principles are completely different to our own. Such a thought provoking read! Recommend full heartedly.
