right handed. when i was a kid i bought scissors on my own and when i went to use them they were super hard to use and cut paper really badly. after months of reflection i realized that yes, i picked like the only pair for lef handed people available and i couldn't even use it

The corpus callosum allows for both hemispheres to communicate. I guess that's enough to allow both hemispheres to coordinate and not act out against your will. What I think happens with Alien Hand Syndrome is that your "other" hemisphere holds its own consciousness. One that is unable to communicate with the exterior and can't access the resources your regular consciousness has. Imagine that. It is as if a person with developmental disabilities inhabited your brain and their only escape is to throw a tantrum through the only limb they can control.
