We sat down with golf course architect Andrew Green to discuss his recent restoration of Donald Ross's Scioto Country Club in Columbus, Ohio. Famous for being the childhood home course of Jack Nicklaus, it was also the site of the 1931 Ryder Cup and Bobby Jones's 1926 U.S. Open victory. A Dick Wilson 'renovation' in the 1960s moved the course away from its unique Ross design. Green's restoration has brought back Ross's complex green shapes and above-ground features laid cleverly across a piece of rolling terrain.
A huge thanks to Andrew Green and Scioto Country Club for historical and on-site construction photos.
