Because people in the northern hemisphere should use the southern hemisphere's seasons as a reference? So do all the people in the southern hemisphere say "In the southern hemisphere's season" or do they just say "In winter blah blah blah?" Of course they don't. I'm all for eliminating bias, but don't be silly.

I can't think of anything to comment so I'm just going to post a Blueberry pancake recipe. 1 1/4 cups all-purpose flour 1/2 teaspoon salt 1 tablespoon baking powder 1 1/4 teaspoons white sugar 1 egg 1 cup milk 1/2 tablespoon butter, melted 1/2 cup frozen blueberries, thawed 1. In a large bowl, sift together flour, salt, baking powder and sugar. In a small bowl, beat together egg and milk. Stir milk and egg into flour mixture. Mix in the butter and fold in the blueberries. Set aside for 1 hour. 2. Heat a lightly oiled griddle or frying pan over medium high heat. Pour or scoop the batter onto the griddle, using approximately 1/4 cup for each pancake. Brown on both sides and serve hot.

I think Henry's mistake with that snow formation question has to do with meteorology specifics (which they don't seem to know very well) he may have been thinking of ice pellets, and unless you know enough about meteorology and care, would also be called snow (and sometimes called hail, too...) because of the size and how it seems when falling. however, when you learn meteorology enough, you learn that ice pellets are different than snow flakes that's just my guess from how he described the non-hexagonal "snow flake" he knew about, as it sounded more like an ice pellet than a snow flake...
@lexiebutterworth54659 жыл бұрын
For the last question about snow I was yelling at the screen from the very beginning because I know (as a Canadian) that when it is -40 (which it occasionally, but rarely is in the winter) it snows

Small correction - It was correctly stated that earliest earliest sunset and latest sunrise are separated by about a month, but then incorrectly stated that earliest sunset is about 1 week before Winter solstice (in the northern hemisphere). The earliest sunset occurs usually around Dec 7th, two weeks before winter solstice, and latest Sunrise around Jan 6th a bit more than two weeks after. I track this because I am not a morning person, so I only care about the sunset, so for me the darkest day of the year is Dec 7 and it starts staying lighter later after that. By time of Solstice, it's 4-5 minutes later, and by date or latest sunrise, the sunset is already 16 minutes later.

Third question, about the distance of the Earth to the Sun at the winter solstice, you have to specify winter solstice in WHICH hemisphere, north or south, because the earth IS closer to the Sun in summer if you live south of the equator.

Being a meteorologist helped with most of these questions. ;) The picture he drew of the "non-six-sided snowflake" was sort of accurate... there are needle-type snowflakes. However, they ARE six-sided if you look at them on the other axis. This is the difference between "plate" (including dendrites) and "column" (including needles) type snowflakes.

6:18 "...the decorated trees were able to use the white lights to produce food..." Correction. Not food. Energy. Though food can also give energy it also gives minerals, nutrients and mass in general. The energy from light is only used to power the process of photosynthesis. There's a big difference.
@b4ux1t3-tech10 жыл бұрын
And photosynthesis produces :drum roll: sugars, which the plant uses to store energy. Sugars are commonly referred to as "food" when in the context of plants.
@LamirLakantry10 жыл бұрын
Christopher Pilcher The sugar is crated from the chemicals the plant gets from the air and ground. The light gives the energy required to get the chemical reactions going. Saying that the light is food is like saying that the energy letting you chew is your food.
@megashley196310 жыл бұрын
EE Ehrenberg He doesn't ever say "light is food" he says "use light to produce food." Like me saying I used coal to grill my food. No where do I imply that coal is food or that nothing but coal is required, merely that I am using in the process of producing food.
@LamirLakantry10 жыл бұрын
Meg Ashley Fine, fine. You win. I just thought it was badly phrased.
