Dried gold nanoparticles are black! They're purple when the diameter goes up or the agglomeration is in the very early stages. The color is related to the average nanoparticle diameter as mentioned. It goes from pale yellow at 3-5 nm to brilliant red in the 12(?) nm range (it's been a while) and once you start pushing up into the 20+ range, it goes to dark purple. Dried deposits are sort of a weird dark gray/black color that sometimes has traces of metallic gold sheen. I accidentally discovered some growth conditions that made really huge plate-shaped microparticles in the 500-2000 nm range that were a really cool pearlescent pink once. Source: worked a lot with making gold nano particles back in grad school.

Gold Nanoparticle colloids can be any colour from red to blue (often red) in solution depending on their size, I'm not sure how much this changes when dry, but I'd expect there's still a significant range. Also, if they absorbed Red light theyd be blue, or turquoise; to get purple they'd have to be absorbing green light.

It isn't mathematically the same to take and add points as to add double because of the final section where you have to bet points. Giving 1 person 1000 points to make them have 2000 points while the other has the initial 1000 allows them a chance to catch the other, but if you add 500 points and take 500 points, then you can only reach 1000 by betting everything while the other has 1500
@juancarmonazavala3280
@juancarmonazavala3280 9 жыл бұрын
Nope, still holds. If you give someone 2000 points the equivalent would be to give 1000 and to take away 1000 not 500

Hank, if you give who ever got the question right 200 instead of the 100+ 100- that you currently do you don't take points away from the game and just keep adding them, it makes a difference in the bonus round in your case. btw, the same effect applies to the monopoly board game, if you're one of those people that do the whole "free parking pot", it fucks up the game economy
@Sparrow420
@Sparrow420 7 жыл бұрын
also, if you give 200 to the winner of the question, in a case you both get it wrong you deduct 200 or 100 from each?

Gil Wanderley Hi, Picky,picky:)
@mickblock
@mickblock 9 жыл бұрын
Gil Wanderley I think its less preferred because of the words informal definition being more well known than its less known correct formal definition. In fact I had to look up the word myself when I read your comment. But that's just between the two of us. Don't let anyone else know I said that.But yeah you are right the question was phrased to refer to the objects and not the study of the objects.That means that a meteor the size of a grain of sand is an astronomical object. And that means I learned something. So thank you.

He has already appeared in person in an educational panel thing in Alabama, and in Brady's 1 million digits of Pi video, but I think he'd still prefer for his face not to make regular appearances in videos.
