I believe the verdict is in SciShow... Please make a slot available for Miss Gordon to expose us to these tiny creatures that seem to fascinate her so deeply. She seems to meet all the criteria; Is she charming enough to hold the attention of the audience? 400 of your avid followers would seem to believe so. Is she intelligent? Smart enough to get one of the most awesome jobs EVER. Is she compassionate enough? She... She cares about bugs and spiders, enough said, consdiering most of us would simply grab a can of Raid, much less heal a spider back to health. But, with the conditions that she always sit counterpart to Hank, because, his responses were awesome and anyway, watching a large insect poop on a show host is simply a boon of happiness and joy in a world filled with so much darkness. Miss Gordon, we look forward to seeing your next installment. Also, a legitimate question, you say they breathe through their skin, how... How do they do that?

Wow. That was over 20 minutes? I was wondering why Olivia wasn't bringing out the next bug and then the video wrapped up. I think the Blue Death Feigning Beetles were my favorite ones to see. I wasn't aware there were beetles that play dead. I suppose I shouldn't have been surprised as a lot of other animals use that defense as well. Thanks for the great show! I don't know if Olivia will see this, or perhaps Hank knows: I live in upstate NY and twice I found rather large beetles as a kid. They looked similar to ladybugs, but with more of a light orange exoskeleton. I think they were about the size of a quarter. One had no spots, and I'm pretty sure the other one I found had two placed symmetrically adjacent to the center line where there wings fold under. I found them both at my grandmother's house within a week, and have never seen them again since. That was probably about twenty years ago now. If anyone knows what they might be I'm curious.
@stuvs8309 жыл бұрын
Have you seen the spider that's colored very similarly to a ladybug? As a ladybug lover, I was-disappointed.
@svankensen9 жыл бұрын
+Phil Ferrara Well, i live in a different country, so no local info on your particular beetles, but just so that you know beetles (aka coleoptera) make about a third of the animal species in the world. So the variety is huge. There are even marine beetles, and ones that live 99% of their lifes inside trees.
@philferrara59909 жыл бұрын
svankensen Yes I'm aware they're the most common variety of species on the planet. I was just curious if anyone knew about the ones I described in particular as they were remarkably large and I've only ever seen two of them, both within the same week. Thanks for the response anyway though.

@revolver2653 жыл бұрын
Same here. Many years ago, my school was lucky enough to get the local pest exterminator to talk about "bug" infestations one day, as well as spiders that don't really infest, but do pose a genuine danger to us as small children who could easily get past the LD50 due to body mass. House centipedes, termites, and the names of the spiders (Black Widow, Brown Recluse) stuck with me for one reason or another, and I really don't want to see any of them in my house, ever. It was definitely fascinating in a similar way because we got live samples of the particularly deadly ones in little clear plastic jars that the extermination company had, since they specialized in termites.
