They didn't need Billy to get them over, but it certainly isn't unwelcomed to see an older guy, his star no longer so bright, taking a mentorship role over two young talents rather than stifling the opposition by trying to still look like they can go twenty minutes in the ring, meanwhile botching it in the first three.

The best wrestlers get over organically and make themselves legends. Rock, Austin, Piper, guys who even when they were heels, were getting huge pops. I loved these kids from the start, and knew they were destined for greatness. Their charisma, intelligence, coolness, catchphrases, mic skills, and looks were just too damn good to ignore for long. You can be a jobber stuck on Dark, but like The Acclaimed showed, you can dig out of there and make it big. You just need to put in the work. Love these guys. Homegrown talent, baby!

I remember when I first saw The Acclaimed on Dark my first impression was that they had talent and a lot of potential and if they kept at it they would get where they needed to be and I was right. It took a little longer than I thought it would but I knew in my mind that this day would eventually come. Now that it’s here and I was along for the ride watching them from humble beginnings in a practically empty Daily’s Place during the pandemic to Arthur Ashe stadium at Grand Slam an event last year they didn’t even have a match on it feels so good to finally see The Acclaimed get tag team gold. I’ve said on numerous occasions how big of a fan of The Acclaimed I am in fact they’re my favorite tag team in AEW and that’s no BS they really are I’m just so happy for them they really deserve it they worked so hard.
