I did stick around John. I try to buy American when i can. The other day i bought a drill bit set that is made in the USA. The name brand is DRILLHOG. Very nice bits and they have different angle grinds. Lifetime warranty. If you break one, send it in for free replacement. I was a machinist for 26 years so i like quality tools! We need to get back to old values in my opinion. 🇺🇸👍Roger

My wife uses Gingher scissors in her sewing room. She sent them back to the manufacturer for sharpening. I don't ask why. Also, I didn't see any barber scissors. My grandfather retired from the barber shop after over 50 years in the same chair. It was a hotel barber shop-high end place. We have one pair of scissors he used. They had never been used for anything but hair. I used them to cut my grandsons hair. The result was very similar to your haircut. :-)

Great video Scoutcrafter! I really like these types of videos when you pick one type of tool and talk about all different variants. We had the “don’t you dare touch moms sewing scissors” rule in our house too. 😆 I remember one time a kid came up to my work selling Cutco scissors and said they would cut through a penny. He reached in his pocket and pulled out a penny and sure enough he cut it right I half no problem. He sold several pairs that day. Take care 😃👍🏼

I had a pair of scissors that I bought from a guy that worked at the Essex Wire plant before it closed. (they made fine magnet wire at that plant) It had 2 "V" grooves in the back edge. One was a coating stripper, the other was a gauge for wire thickness. I guess it was a multi-tool.

Hi scout 😊, when you talk about cheap scissors there was a documentary on TV years ago about Cambodia, after Pol-Pot took over and called it year zero? , anyway it showed a long shed built out of bamboo etc, whith about 50-60 people in there , it was like Dantes inferno, forges, home made drop hammers, and believe it or not lengths of railway line were carried into one end , and later Barrow loads of scissors came out the other, unbelievable* they also made pots and pans out of US artillery shell cases, forced labour of course, ****. Thanks for the video, this was a cut above the rest, lol, stay safe mate, best wishe's to you and your's, Stuart.uk.

the best ones were the old made in america ones and later i found that good scissors were made in Italy. a pair of the Wiss pinking shears even had the brochure inside telling you how you could send them back to be re-sharpened. not any more. sad that so many of these companies that used to make really fine products shipped production out of the country and cheapened the tools to the point where they're simply not worth buying any more.

The old bandage scissors were great. New ones are probably disposable. I have two 10" Gold Seal, a 12" Wiss inlaid 22, a 8" Gingher that are great scissors. The Gold Seal list Florida but the bolt tells they didn't put top effort in to them. I have four pairs to refinish. Two of them are really good. One is a Dunlop but the best is a H Boker. Of course there are probably a half dozen old ones stashed that I don't remember.

Great stuff. Another type of scissor not shown in your collection are corrugated scissors or corrugated blades used to cut hair. I know that barbers, dog groomers, etc. use these kinds of scissor to cut without the hair slipping. I use this kind of scissor in a small size for cutting bucktailal and other similar hair fibers for fly tying and tackle making. How they achieve a corrugated edge can vary; but a note of interest is they make corrugating files to creat this kind of finish.

Nice trick at the end! I used to say my first car was like an extension of my body. I knew exactly how how big it was, how it would accelerate and handle. I could feel the road thru the tires and suspension. I miss the floor vents and the high beam switch on the floor. When I had to start driving a front wheel drive car with bucket seats, it just did not feel right. Like I was isolated from the environment around the car. I have never felt the same way about any car since my old Nova. 😐

As a kid I'd get into my dad's tool room in the basement. He had a small wooden box of various styles of scissors. I'd get in there make my choice, and had one hell of a time getting them to cut. Here they were all left hand scissors. He was a lefty. Then I'd catch hell for using my mothers nurse's bandage scissors. The one with the nub on the leading blade so you don't dig into the wound when cutting off bandages. There was an old guy who used to travel around the neighborhoods in the city with a cart. He sharpened knives, scissors and cleavers, as well as mend pots and pans.

When you started on the subject of left hand models i got excited. Being left handed and using right hand scissors is tough. Ive been doing it my whole life and now its almost second nature. Handles are tough to hold though very uncomfortable. Wiss makes w20lh but they are not true left handed. Only the handles are molded for left hand but the blades are not reversed Still much more comfortable for me to use. I do have a couple pairs of new true left hand pairs one is from Mundial 493-10 tailors shears they are of great quality made in Brazil if im not mistaken. I also have a 8" model from Gingher super sharp made in italy. If you know any other quality companies making true lefts let me know🙂
