Scolymus Hispanicus
This second video shows this wild cardoon being collected and pre-cleaned on the spot.
The first cardoon was found while driving along an off-road track and was actually a magnificient really stark exemplar with its main dry stem from last summer, after collection it was broken and made into pieces under the feet for spreading the seeds in the surrounding and also the last vegetable rosette is not collected for the same reason, so it will spring its sprog (hopefully) and bloom next season again.
Actually destroying the dry stems also helps your future search by hiding this attractive flag fom competitors' searchings.
A rough cleaning of the booty is reccomended to be made on the field, as in a couple of hours the plant becomes flabby and the leaves may break easily while being stripped.
Once at home they must be washed thoroughlly and then stored in the fridge in a wet napkin (for few days), or freezer if cooked.
This delicious vegetable can be cooked as the asparaguses and might be eaten also raw (young basal rosettes) or demi-cooked.
