Used scoot boots for almost 2 years now and they work great!

Yeah. I have to sell my 2 slims now to get 1 size up since my horse's feet have grown/expanded out since pulling shoes last summer. I like them alot.

Super video. Love my Scoots. U.K. Based and we don't have independent dealers like Stacy Pratt. Scoot Australia told me my horse wasn't suitable, based on my photos and measurements but I got some sizing shells and with very little fuss have been scooting for 3 years. I do need to use insoles, though. The creativity and trial and error process is something I should do a video of!

Yeah, I noticed with hoof boots there is such much variance horse to horse, that you usually have to get creative!

Your video deals with the Scoot Boot pluses and minuses very well. I have them and love them for the same reasons -- minimalist design, multiple openings for water to escape, no wires or velcro, softer plastic than, say Renegades. But I don't know how much I'd love them if I had to incorporate all those various "fitting aids" into the process on a regular basis -- especially the mud straps!! I like the trail gaiters and I do find the foam tape wrapped w/duct tape to work well (in place of the trail gaiters) in a few cases where there was rubbing. I got good fitting help from Scoot Boots directly (located in Australia), but if I were to do it all over again, I'd work through Stacy Pratt @ Heartland Scoot Boots in the US (Missouri). Both for fitting assistance and for purchasing. Anyway, thanks for the video. I enjoy the straight talk from users, as well as the rah-rah videos from reps!!

Thanks so much for taking the time to make this video - very helpful indeed. When I took shoes off last June my horse was measured for fours, but I can't get them on now! I ordered a pair of fives, which fit him in the last two weeks of his trim cycle (4 weeks), but I have to use the pads for the first two weeks. Although they don't wiggle when I put the boots on after the trim, they still feel a tad big, so I'm wondering if he needs the 5 slim. Need to check his front measurements next trim and see if the slims might be more appropriate. His front feet are quite round, so not sure. In the meantime this video was super helpful. If you have any further tips on slims vs regulars, please let me know. Thank you again! :-)

They will fit big right after a trim, so you can try gaiters, shims, vet wrap etc.

Would you say the Endurance gaiters double at keeping the boots from being slung off?

G’day Exerciserider ;-) Thanks for your honest opinion and detailed review. Have you tried other types of hoof boots? Ta Victoria
@exerciserider12 жыл бұрын
I have not. I am still new to hoof boots in general. I have a friend that rides with me that uses Easy Boots. She likes them, but they have fallen off when we are cantering sometimes. Then we end up having to go on a scavenger hunt to find them.

I’ve personally used two different styles of easy boots and old macs generation 1 and 2. Easy boots flew off and old macs needed gaiters or they’d rub Pasternak. The Old Mac gen 2 were the best out of those two brands. They only flew off at a dead sprint a couple times. Put 100’s of miles on them but they are BULKY. I don’t ride in any water either, I ride only on rocks, hard packed, southern Nevada desert cliche. Hope that helps a little in your search for boots!! After not having a horse that needs boots for 5 years I’m back in the market. Excited to try something light and durable!

Those kid straps look like they might solve your issues with the bolts rubbing/knocking between the hind hooves. You could remove them entirely since you wouldn’t use the patstern straps.

Get your heels up! Don't let your farrier say that's the way his foot is. His foot is like that because the heels have been cut too low by the farrier. Happens all the time, but can be corrected.
@exerciserider12 жыл бұрын
Thanks, we have been working on it!
@daniel_moretti2 жыл бұрын
Sunny, how do you know if the heels are too low if you haven't seen a picture of the hoof. If we can see a pic, there could probably be some pretty good advice given 😉
@epona91662 жыл бұрын
@@daniel_moretti I think she's just responding to the KZbinr's comment about her horse's heels being low.
@Froby2378 Жыл бұрын
Most boot fitting problems stem from low or under run heels also. If the hoof isn’t anatomically correct, no boot shaped for an anatomically correct hoof will fit. Proper trimming is HUGE for boot fit.

Any info on the Scoot Skins glue on boots?
@exerciserider12 жыл бұрын
I have not tried the glue on style as I seldom need the boots (for occasional trail rides). I have heard good feedback, but they are fussy and require a lot of attention and upkeep.
@MrSteadyonthere10 ай бұрын
The gaiters are better put on the other way, better protection from rubs.
