@@respectable-username I don't think it was self harm allusion, it seemed more along the lines of the "I have a job... on my arm" type of joke in the first episode, with Yellow Guy (stupidly) trying to copy Duck having his finger chopped off, but it didn't work for him because he's alive.

@@unk9192 the allusion to it was the follow up line of "this must be a very hard time for you" in response to taking a blade to himself. It's a multifaceted joke in that it's simple shock body-horror but it also has a layer to it added by the response.

@@respectable-username I just felt that the "this must be very hard for you" was just another joke, juxtaposing the very nonchalant and frivolous approach to death by the characters (with Red Guy even arguing about HIM getting to be dead) by saying something you would traditionally say to a grieving relative or friend, sort of similar to all of the mourners after the funeral.

I don’t think it’s that Red Guy doesn’t care about Duck’s death- he just expresses it differently. When I lost someone close to me, I felt a lot of what Yellow Guy expresses on the inside, but externally I acted more like Red Guy. It hurt too much to talk about the loss, so I tried to distract myself, and when people brought it up I would divert the conversation to a different subject. I think this episode does a great job of showing how everyone grieves differently. They both miss Duck, and neither of them can live without him, but they go about remedying this situation differently. Yellow Guy goes to get the original back, and Red Guy doesn’t think he can come back so he tries to create a new one.

It's kinda crazy to think that they represent each different generation. Yellow being the kid, Red being the young adult and Duck being the oldest. I started liking this episode from the start when Red responded to Duck about dying "that's kinda of my thing". And it makes sense, when you're going through adulthood it is a lot easier for you to say "I wish I was dead", meanwhile the other 2 don't really bother with the question

Honestly, Duck is absolutely the highlight of this episode when it comes to the funny parts. He's honestly like me if I was forced into a box with nothing to do. I would find activities to do either way or just complain about how bored I am until the coffin gives in to letting me out. For Yellow Guy and Red Guy, on the other hand, I think this episode really tackles the two unhealthiness ways to deal with grief. Yellow's way is like a child's at times. As a kid, if someone died, I would wonder when they would come back but they never did and I couldn't wrap my head around it. Saying that they were sleeping forever didn't help either because I would think "Then, why not give them a kiss to wake them up? Sleeping Beauty has eternal sleep, why can't that work with a loved one?" If you don't explain or give proper reasoning about what's happening, it can lead to extreme cases of Yellow's where he literally couldn't cope and went to dig up Duck. It's also just an example of how someone with a fragile mind can deal with a problem like that. They can't let that person go and it can get to the point where the person thinks "Dead or alive: it doesn't matter to me. I just want them to be here and with me." There have been severe cases where someone who lost their child/parent/spouse refused to let them go and keep their body somewhere in their house to keep that person with them forever, even if they were decaying. Red Guy's way is unhealthy as well because he's literally replacing Duck with a new version of him. He isn't talking about it or anything, he just goes "If I do this correctly, I can have him back and everything can be normal." It's not a great way to cope. It's like loosing your newborn after birth, given a name and everything and then going "Oh. This is fine! We can make another one and name that one after the one we lost! Then, we can pretend we never lost them!" It's the same with anything. Getting a new romantic partner and forcing them to do what the old one did or getting a new pet then naming and forcing that one to be like the old one. It hurts but it's not healthy at all. It just makes the delusion you created easier to go along with but you don't know how much it hurts the person you're forcing to change or what that person could be. It's unfair to that person, as much as they try to understand how much you're hurting. They can't blossom into someone you can learn to love. It's artificial and fake love on the grieving one's end. It's desperate and disturbing. As much as I love this episode, the deeper understanding of it can be absolutely disturbing but fascinating to study. I'm sorry I went on a tangent, death as a concept is fascinating, as much as I fear it happening to me and the people I care for around me.

I'm not afraid of death. I don't believe in any heaven or afterlife or anything, but I do believe that after death, you just stay in the ground and decompose like it shows in this episode. I love this episode. At the beginning it's all happy and joyful, like they don't understand, but immediately after the funeral it feels dark and empty, like it just hits, the supposed permanence of it.

@@Kat-PM yeah, it is an interesting thing to notice (I still can’t see the maggots, but I trust people on this one) But didn’t the real Duck had no blood, when the coffin guy cut off his finger to show “how to check if you’re dead”? And he had his organs removed after Some people also use the position of the Ducks as proof (Like at the beginning of the song the fake Duck was on the left, and the real one was on the right, and the one from the right side died), but I think it’s a failing one, because 1. They simply could’ve misplaced them 2. Yellow guy in the beginning of the song was standing at the left with a shovel and with an overcoat, but at the end he was without them, and on the left Also the desire to kill the real one and stay with Red and Yellow doesn’t really seem like the Blobs personality to me… Like, he was up for adventures, and he looked nice, not like someone who would kill to stay in this boring place that they didn’t like before (And also a few seconds before the song, when he was with Red and was reading a newspaper, he still looked confused and not quite happy with what’s happening, so he didn’t copy Ducks personally yet (This is only my opinion and interpretation and it’s definitely not canon)) But this killing thing does look like Duck for me. I mean, don’t get me wrong, I love him, but he’s an a$$hole a lot of times, to be honest Oh, and also, at the beginning of the song he was closer to the shovel than the fake Duck, but I don’t even consider it a proof, it’s not good enough, so just a little thought I’m just sharing my opinion, I’m not correcting anyone. The human species has existed for over 100.000 years, but 90% of that time we were just hunter gatherers, and before that we were proto-human apes. You know, people bring up how television cartoons have very poorly disguised fetishes put into the shows, like the one episode of Total Drama Rama where there's an entire episode about farting. And the DHMIS crew fell into the same hole I believe. As in this episode and the next episode, they have two very distinct close-up scenes of pissing in them, for no reason it's really closely zoomed in and focused on. This show was greenlit and able to air as a British Television show on Channel 4, and funny how as soon as they get televised they put in fetish stuff. These independent artists who have done their best to stand out from the majority of trash and make themselves something special and unique, still fell into that.
